WebServer Security
How do you Big Ballers deal with webserver security? Do you guys outsource security or pay for managed hosting? I am just curious to see what you guys do to make sure your investments and livelyhood is secure from spammer/hackers.

Thats what I was affraid of; Noone is thinking of security.
|
- They are either on managed hosting.
- They have web server admins working for them (part time or full time) |
We provide managed hosting, basically stay pro-active and try to use software that off the bat keeps security in mind. The first step is the proper operating system, such as FreeBSD, and after that lock down unnecessary ports and watch out for software that can be compromised and 777 directories.

i was going to post a similar question the other day since last year a lot of sites did get hacked, and they were on managed servers. Do any of the big hosting companies acutally do security audits?

Yes security is a major concern, thats why I am a Security Engineer major. I am just curious of the demand for security experts in this field to help you guys secure your investments.
