Wow...Biggie and Bone Thugs are now old school. Now I feel old.

I was gonna say NWA's "Straight Outta Compton" but wasn't sure it was old school enough. :winkwink:

Broken glass everywhere, people pissing on the stairs you know they just don't care.
(Sadly, more true than he could have ever imagined.)

dicknixon 01-19-2005 12:11 PM

Hmm. .

Not sure if this qualifies as old school:
Pharcyde, Black Sheep, or Leaders of the New School

If we gotta go way back:
Ultramagnetic MCs (kool keith)
Run DMC

God damn im old.

Warden 01-19-2005 12:12 PM

No question for me it's Ice T

Azlord 01-19-2005 12:12 PM

Ice Cube is bad ass, and Snoop Dogg - Doggy Style is classic.... those aren't really that old.

Run DMC For Sure :pimp

Buddah00 01-19-2005 12:22 PM

Can't forget Slick Rick & Big Daddy Kane

Drake 01-19-2005 12:30 PM

Wow, Tupac, Snoop and Dre are all oldschool now. So many years gone by already.

Slightly older stuff:

It takes two - Rob Base
Sucka MC's - Run DMC (classic from like 1983)
This or That - Blacksheep
Humpty Dance - Digital Underground
Fight for you right - Beastie Boys
Anything off the Ice-T Rhymen Pays album
Fight the Power - Public Enemy
Let's Get It Started - Hammer
NWA
Gas Face - Third Base
My Melody - Eric B and Rakim
Children's Story -Slick Rick

There's also oldschool like Kurtis Blow and Grandmaster Flash. Guys like them were trailblazers but I'm not much of a fan of the music. I can appreciate it though because without them none of the other rappers would exist. I like Sugar Hill Gang's "Rapper's Delight" from 1979 and have it on vinyl.

Martin 01-19-2005 12:30 PM

Some Older then others.
Nas
AZ
Wu-Tang (all of them)
Biggy
Pac
Nwa
Easy E
House Of Pain
Cypress Hill
Dre Dre
Snoop
Gangstarr
Pete Roc
Run Dmc
Fat Boys
Das Efx
Maestro Fresh Wes
Eric B and Rakim
Beastie Boys
Grand Puba
Nice and Smooth
Ice-T

These are just some of the guys/groups I liked. I wish I could remember them all..

Martin 01-19-2005 12:33 PM

Yeah
Ghetto Boys
Ice Cube
Mobb Deep
Lost Boys
Daz
Currupt

list goes on.

I downloaded Lost Boy's "Renee" (or is it called Ghetto Love?) a few days ago. I remembered seeing the video like 7 years ago and forgot who did it. A very sad song, it's a keeper. He has a great voice and flow for that beat in that song.
