What do you consider "Rich"?

50k in the bank
100k in the bank
500k in the bank
Over a mill in assets?
Live off interest for life without having to lift a finger.

I consider having over $1 million in assets officially "rich", but I also think if I had $500k in the bank I'm sure I'd feel "rich".

Chris Rock

Nismo 01-19-2005 12:14 PM

$1mil in the bank or in assets & atleast $500k/year in salary (profit) is pretty well off. I would consider that rich.

mortenb 01-19-2005 12:14 PM

I can feel rich, but I don't think I will ever feel it is enough.

Loryn 01-19-2005 12:15 PM

To me rich is not having to work, and if you do work it is because you want to. It's something for personal accomplishment!!! :thumbsup

edit: and of course having a shit load of money without having to work!!! :pimp

pxxx 01-19-2005 12:16 PM

Enough money to get what ever you want.

Peaches 01-19-2005 12:16 PM

It has nothing to do with money for me.

r3ap3r 01-19-2005 12:17 PM

Someone living off interest for life is stinking rich.

tony286 01-19-2005 12:18 PM

over 10 mil in liquid

dennisthemenace 01-19-2005 12:20 PM

Enough so that you never have to work or worry again.

That's rich IMO

UniversalPass Pete 01-19-2005 12:21 PM

In todays world $1million is like having $200K 25 years ago! it's really not that much!

If you have 1-3 million net worth you are considered middle class by todays standards! :2 cents:

IwantU Bryan 01-19-2005 12:22 PM

Enough money that all of relatives won´t have to work any more :winkwink:

xclusive 01-19-2005 12:27 PM

scary to think about another 20 years from now. having a few million will make you lower middle class.

Yup, anyhoo "wealth" is measured in family and friends!

You can have the cash folks, been there and done that, and it wrecked my life...:-)

hahaha, great quote. whats that from?

jojo55 01-19-2005 12:34 PM

Having a mill these days is not middle class. Be serious. When the average salary of the country is like 25k or something, you are still rich.

To me rich is when you don't work and still make enough money to support a good life.

hova 01-19-2005 12:39 PM

over 10 mill in liq

sweetME 01-19-2005 12:47 PM

To me "wealth" is when my family and I are healthy and happy.
Money is something I never considered as "wealth". Money can make things easier and better of course, but it can never make you happy or especially healthy.

I don't count "Rich" in Dollar, Yen or Euro.
People with 10 million in their bank account can be extremely poor in life. A person who has $0 in their bank account, but am able to help people in need can be extremely rich.

juicyjuice 01-19-2005 03:07 PM

you are rich when u dont have to worry about paying the bills to live the lifestyle you are comfortable with.

jayeff 01-19-2005 03:22 PM

Adnan Khashoggi was a client many years ago. One day I went to see him off at Heathrow Airport and watched he and King Fahd of Saudi Arabia walk onto the tarmac, each to his own private 747.

That is rich...

Rich, well off, financially secure--all relative terms. Relatively to who you are, what your cost of living is (what you want it to be and relative to your geographical location.)

People getting out of high school now of days will need about $3 million to retire comfortably! With inflation, the value of the dollar, and plenty of other factors this is a very realistic number.

slapass 01-19-2005 03:28 PM

10 mil in net worth is the lower level of rich. You could have a nice house and live on the interest if you had to. But that sucks as if Ihad 10 mil I would think I was stinking rich. But at 3-5% it is about 400k a year and that goes fast if you are living large.

Maybe, but still not 3 million.
