Are people inherently mean?
After watching American Idol, I have to think so . . . and I love it.
Last season was the first time I watched it, and that was only because I saw a "Worst of" episode. So I watch the first few weeks during auditions. This is great entertainment, but what friend or parent would let their friend or kid go on national television and display their complete lack of talent? Would you let your friend, that could not carry a tune in a bucket, go on TV and make a fool of themself? |
only if they wanted to.
No though, I dont think people are inherently mean, in the way that I dont think most people will go out of their way to be mean just like they wont go out of their way to help. Most people dont care about the world outside their own lives. |
It is always good to watch people makes fools of themselves as it makes us feel that little bit better in ourselves!
Personally any idiot that is tone deaf who thinks they have a chance on Pop Idol deserves everything they get. |

So, if they really wanted to go, but they sucked. you would still support the decision? Youwouldn't be the true friend that told him he sucked? And that the nation would be laughing at him every Monday on Fox as they used him in one of their recurring leads? |
It's totally up to them. I wouldn't mind seeing one of my tone deaf buddies sing on stage. It would be really funny.
|
I guess it was their own decision. Even if the parents disapprove of it, if they choose to join, they still would.

I think a certain percentage of people are just massively delusional combined with one or more personality disorders.
|
I think it can vary inversely with how happy the individual is.
