Do you "freak out" when you have a bad sales streak?
 

It seems like every month I have a 1 or 2 week period where nothing seems to be going right and sales just plain suck. The same exact traffic will be pumping through, yet the "usual" sales that SHOULD be there just don't seem to be showing up. For whatever reason I'll start freaking out and create just plain STUPID plans and ideas that are absolutely ridiculous. Eventually I'll snap out of my panic and realize that the same cycle happens every month and soon the sales will start clicking the way they should again. It's annoying as hell afterwards looking back on it because I know how silly I was acting, yet at the same time I know damn well I'll be doing the same exact thing when the next cycle goes down.

Anyone else do this? Or am I just nuts?

I usually come on GFY and ask if the summer slow down started early :(

I do it too... only I do it daily cause I am a stats FREAK.

I'm in the cycle right now. Thank God rebills are good this week. I don't freak out. It's all mathematics.

me too, I'm an analytical hypochondriac, so to speak. For instance, when i woke up this morning I had more sales than I normally do, so I figured I would hae a stellar day, butas it turned out I ended up with an average day. But that meant that through a few hours today my stats seemed to be down by looking at my early morning surge...

look at things from a broad point of view, work harder if you have it in you, and reap the rewards. :D

I dont panic too much.. my dick has a steady job so i know he can always bring in money to carry us over, I only panic about bills and being late on them

I do too, usually it is for 2-3 days at a time but then things get back to normal.

Wolfy: I hear you 110% I am the exact same way. I hate it... but I have always been a click refresh kind of guy during the day, it's something I can not break out of.

I've been in the busines long enough to see the patterns, but do get surprised sometimes...
I'm actually more concerned when I see an affiliate having a rough pay period as it means they'll be ICQing me and instead of asking what they can do to improve, they'll ask if we're shaving them...

although, sometimes even I don't know why an affiliate's traffic will be doing 1:200 for two weeks, then suddenly go to 1:1500....although that can sometimes mean there is TOO MUCH of the same traffic from the same places (those folks have already seen our sites)

That's just the nature of the web. Things go really well for a while then all of a sudden it feels like the rug has been pulled out from under you!

The only way to overcome that is volume. When you are getting CA Dave or LA Mike level clicks those bumps get a bit smoother.

A bad day yes.. but I never noticed any cycles... Sometimes, a different gallery for the same site makes all the difference...

What pissed me off though.. is for exemple.. I'd have 9 sales for a certain site at 15h45 pm... Im thinking I'll get around 18 for the day.. and turns out I stayed at 9 or 10... How the fuck!??? :disgust

i freak out often, since i check stats about 5 times a day. when stats are bad i check them more often.

i get really iritable when sales are down. and start thinking about what day job i'm gonna have to get. don't sleep much, work constantly and generally stress the fuck outta myself.

I don't freak out much. First I try to blame it on everyone else. then i realise the above statement and try promoting something else. But sticking with a few good sponsors I've seen the fluctuations.

Checking stats frequently has the affect of making me bi polar.

the third week of each mouth is kinda catastrophic for me
all doing well im starting the mouth with greath stat on staremote with hot projection then its stall on the third weeks..then restart one week laters..

sales were off this week but rebills were decent...Plus I raised my price by $5 two days ago so that extra money rocks!

edit...got another sale right after I posted this...It looks like the slump might be ending.

nope, i do a lot of revshare sales and have a ton of active members and my rebills are more than enough to live off.

nope. i used to be so into looking at stats, but now i only look a couple times a week. the only type of stats i'm extremely interested in are the initial stats whenever i'm looking at doing new ad deals with new sites.

And yes, thank god for rebills!

Before when i was just upselling porn. Now i spread my traffic out to porn, dating and penis enlargement. So majority of the year its good. :thumbsup
