Is a dual 2.4 intel DOUBLE a single 2.4celeron?
all else being the same
bandwidth, memory, upstream connection AND that celerons have the same processing as intels. just want to know if there is that much of a bigger difference |
Depends what kinda content you're serving. Static content can be served pretty much at par by both... :2 cents:

ok ok so today i went to the mall and got stuff

make that a xeon compare to a single processor.

In a way it is double. It is equivelent to two processors working at once. It shares the processing on some things while on others it is latent. In server operations the biggest plus for porn page serving is not as much the dual processing (which unless you are pushing an extraordinary amount of pages) but it's the higher bandwidth throughput that usually comes with the Xeon chips.
At the end of the day the RAM is more of an issue than the chip as long as you are using over a 1.7ghz cpu. If you are running a Dual Xeon (4 throretical processors) with 512mb of ram it's not going to be as fast as a 1.4ghz celeron chip with 2gb or ram (if you are serving over 1.5gb of unique content). |
