Wireless gurus

I've got 2 laptops(Windows XP) and they both have wifi but only one of them works with the wireless. For the one that doesn't, I can't understand why and it's driving me crazy. Dell tech support (Wireless Specialists :1orglaugh what a joke) couldn't help me either. My wireless works at my school but for some reason won't work in my house. Also, it says that signal strength is excellent and the status says that it's connected. WTF is the problem? If I recall correctly, when my bro set this shit up it was working fine for like 5 minutes until he installed some security shit onto my computer so that neighbors of mine aren't able to share the internet connection. Do any of you have simple solution to this problem, for example go to control panel, network connections, click this and click that and it's done! (in my dreams). Thanx in advance for any help.

The "security" he set up was most likley the SID. You may not have the ID
set correctly so it's not "broadcasting" correctly.

Go into the config of your router to see what he set the esid to, then go into the config of your wireless card or adapter to make sure they are the same.
