how can mrskin.com still exist?
i understand there's a lot of sites out there which push the envelope on trademark/copyright issues, or anything on the legal front. i was under the impression that the only way his site can survive is if:
1) his server(s) are in a country that does not enforce copyright laws 2) his processor(s) do not have rules against copyrighted content and/or reside in the same countries as (1) examining it closer, it appears that his site is hosted in the US, and he also lists ccbill as one of his processors. does ccbill allow processing to sites that post copyrighted material (such as screencaps and such pulled from movies?) - i know that a friend of mine wanted to "legitimately" buy licenses for some celebrity photos to put on his site and soem photographers wanted something like up to $250 per image... i'm very curious on this subject. i could be missing out because i was misinformed... either way, props to him (i believe he posts on here, i think i've seen his name once in my very infrequent visits nowadays...) for making his site so big and successful. |
you are misinformed - they send him the clips cause it is great marketing for them

The are on good hands with the film producers and do nothing illegal.
It a review site basically. |
a site like that is easy when you make deals with all the movie studios

As I understand it he is reviewing nude scenes from movies and is therefore legally allowed to show pics/clips relating to his reviews, rather than just having a site showing nude celeb pics/clips (which would be illegal).
|
Yes as long as you review the scene or pic it's legal under the fair use act.

Did somebody already mention he reviews the scenes and is on good hands with the movie studios?

i don't actually have access to the members area of mrskin, i just thought (assumed) that it was a celeb porn site, how i originally heard of it. not just screen caps of movies with a review added and thus immune to liability. new question: how can hush-hush.com still be running? (same network as 1stflirt and other sites) - it appears it's hosted with rackspace.com in the US. i know the creators are in australia. but they offer nude pictures of girls down to 16 (that they know of) and i'm sure much younger, since they don't have any documentation or proof (they seem to get stolen webcam shots from people and post them - and refuse to take them down when the girls request it) i can't tell what processor(s) they use because they have some odd system to validate email before the card processing. but how can this be hosted in the US? i know australia doesn't have as strict of laws with this, but the laws for content are applied to where it's hosted... note: i'm not thinking of opening that kind of site. just wondering how some of these sites can survive because they violate some basic ideas i've had. |
I guess what ever he is doing is working.

he also knows the law and how far to bend it
I am pretty sure that is the thing that separates them from other celeb sites....they know how far to push it...and when to step back and say no thanks |

Hmmm well, surfing around...i´ve seen lots of sites who´s borrowing material and seemingly gets away with it...even with the usual billing co´s etc. No clue if thats the case for mrskin.com (i mostly recoqnise it if its fetish material).
When i see my own stuff, i usually ask them to remove...but i dont have the ressources to do anything for real. Maybe we should start a "borrowing sites"-thread or something to see them all...theirs loads. |
