Silver Window Tint

Does anyone have a picture of a car with this? Seems a little flashy

WiredGuy 01-17-2005 06:22 PM

I've seen it on a car or two around here, mostly on supped up Honda Civic's. It looks different, but I wouldn't want it on my car.

Stick to Limo Tint. Not sure if Silver Tint is the right move. Just my thought though.

nah man

you dont want that.

here in l.a. its only the racers that put that stuff on their souped up hondas. alot of the asian racer guys have it. its tacky.

just go with a nice smoke tint not too dark and it looks insane.

Yea, I agree with you guys.. Just curious

I was in the Window Tinting biz for 16 years...

Kinda depends on what what degree of silver youre talking about..
Silver reflective window film (mirrored) in its most reflective form is intended for residential/commercial applications only..cpl reasons
1st At night it will reflect back on you on the interior side and make it impossible to see out.
2nd It generally has a much less agressive adhesive applied to it and depending on the curve of the glass on the car it can be very difficult to install.
3rd Its illegal in many places and the cops will pull ya over for it.

I have installed reflective commercial films in the form of graphics on some peoples vehicles and for the most part they have had not trouble with these kind of applications.

Now having said all that there are HI PERFORMANCE films for automotive applications. They do have a somewhat reflective apperance (tho not to the same degree as the above commercial films) and are much better at reducing the heat, plus they are not dyed, they use actual metal particles to achieve the reflective apperance so you wont have a problem with them fading over time.

I imagine this is the type of film you are thinking about, just be sure if you want this you ask for "HI PERFORMANCE AUTOMOTIVE FILM" it generally comes in 3 levels/degrees of darkness or shading:
35% light
20% meduim
5% dark

anyway..I don't have any digital pics of my work to post, but this link has a few examples for you.. scroll down a bit.

hope it helps :)

its ugly and cops will pull you over for it 100x more than heavy black tint.

Lensman 01-17-2005 07:07 PM

Here it is on my car in my driveway. Sorry for the bad pic, I don't have a very good digital camera.

pxxx 01-17-2005 07:12 PM

It looks good on cars.

Persius 01-17-2005 07:15 PM

go 35% on your Mercedes dont make it ghetto man!!!!

baddog 01-17-2005 07:16 PM

Hope you know the CVC before spending too much on tint. All it takes is one cop that had his wife or girlfriend leave him for a guy in a Mercedes to end up having to remove it.

jacked 01-17-2005 10:12 PM

mirror tint is gay i didn't know people still got that shit put on their cars LOL

tedwinters 01-17-2005 10:21 PM

Mirror tint usually looks pretty poor - but occasionally looks QUITE nice!!!

I had it on an 79 blue GMC Sierra pickup.. It was behind naturally greenish glass.... gave it a nice tint that matched the blue....

eitherway... it was one of the rare times I've seen it look good :)
white cars look decent with it too..

Wolfy 01-17-2005 10:55 PM

I think it looks ghetto myself.

kowntafit 01-17-2005 11:02 PM

I definately prefer black tint, silver kinda looks cheap.

brand0n 01-17-2005 11:02 PM

way flashy

SplitInfinity 01-18-2005 02:52 AM

Light light tints on my rides... classy. No silver, I like em clean.

MarkH 01-18-2005 02:58 AM

are those spinners on your bmw?

SplitInfinity 01-18-2005 02:58 AM

Even my beeemer has video. Funny shit. If you sit in the back (small ass) seat, the monitors are like right on your nose. hhahaha, looks nice rolling though.

http://www.splitinfinity.com/chris/DSC02615.JPG

SplitInfinity 01-18-2005 03:00 AM

Yeah, those are spinners, they look sick rolling.... I hate spinners now though, I recently removed them and put on some nice wheels with diamonds in them..... lots classier and not common to see on the road.

SplitInfinity 01-18-2005 03:18 AM

LOL, it's called a gated community! :-)

When I roll them I park them in busy places where theives would not attempt to jack things from them. I have been lucky so far.

:-)

don't you only get like %40 if the steal shit like rims, stereo etc?

TheMob 01-18-2005 04:08 AM

isn't that illegal in cali?

SplitInfinity 01-20-2005 11:55 AM

Having tint on the front passenger and driver side and windshield is illegal and they will give you a fine and a fix-it-ticket if you get pulled over....

However, it seems they typically will not bug ballers..... if you are rollin an expensive ride, they give you respect kinda and ignore ya....

However if you are rolling in a hooptie or impala kinda thing with a dark tint.... maybe a pinto, honda, toyota with a tint like that, they will grab ya....

I think money brings respect and cops get intimidated slightly so they dont want to start shit for a small ticket... maybe I am wrong, but so far I have had cops sitting next to me, ask me to roll the window down and told me "NICE RIDE". :)

Maybe I am lucky, or they are gay? Who knows.
