Affiliate program taking advantage of affiliates?

http://www.ishotmyself.com/public/ge...p?p=affiliates

"Due to the admin overhead in maintaining affiliates, you need to remain active and referring customers for your affiliate account to remain open. Accounts which refer less than a few signups every month may be closed down."

So if their stuff doesn't convert well or if I am using multiple programs and reaping benefits from them all as a whole then they will shitcan the account if I don't do well with them?

Ok. So this may be good for webmasters with high volumes of traffic. Not for fly by night affiliates. no problem. But the following really irks me as to how they expect to gain serious and experienced webmasters.

"All TGP pages must be approved by ISM before they go live. "

yeah, like people have time to go and get approval everytime they build a gallery. We are webmasters, not cats chasing mice.

"For banner links we pay 40% on initial signups, no rebills.

For TGP's and other active marketing we pay 50% on initial signups, no rebills. "

Biting the hand that feeds them. Send them more productive traffic (via banner spots) and you get less money.

Send them less productive traffic (tgp) and get more? Odd.

Not to mention lack of rebills. How would anyone justify sending traffic to them? The profit margin is minimal. Very minimal.

I wonder how long these guys have been in business and how long they will remain. If they want serious people they should be willing to work with them failry and pay accordingly for sales sent their way.

"To create an affiliate account the steps are:

1. Join the site as either a Standard or Extra member. "

Not only do they cheap when it comes to paying for sales they also want you to pay to join before being considered.

doesn't look like a program I would be willing to promote.

Just my :2 cents:

What do you guys think?

RottenPug 01-17-2005 05:28 PM

Whoever wrote that was either on drugs or making enough off of frontend traffic not to care about angry affiliates who don't read FAQs.

TheMob 01-17-2005 05:30 PM

hehe, that was quite humorous

BVF 01-17-2005 05:33 PM

fuck em. Do just like what they say on their webmaster page. Promote somebody else.

They can take their "project" and shove it...One thing I can't stand is pornographers who keep lying to themselves and saying that what they do isn't porn....

They don't want to be associated with porn but yet they don't mind their pages being listed on porn tgp pages?

count bling 01-17-2005 05:35 PM

wow man that sucks

maja 01-17-2005 05:38 PM

that's hilarious! it sounds like a mainstream affiliate program since a lot of them have rules like that. Forget them and promote someone else.

Okay, I was trying to justify the different terms you listed, but I forgot them all as soon as I read this, then I literally laughed out loud.

Nice touch. I wonder how many affiliates they have.

It would be funny if they are netting 6 figures/year :)

misty_dayz 01-17-2005 08:28 PM

Ok, so let me get this straight. It appears if you want to promote them you have to be a member, so does that mean they continue to bill you to send them traffic?

Another thing, these girls submit their nude photos and they pay them if they choose to accept them, yet it has no mention of how much they pay them. I would be really interested in knowing that.

That site was just totally fucked....talk about a bad attitude they have

Dildozer 01-17-2005 08:29 PM

6 figures is very broad

they're still retards though

emthree 01-17-2005 08:47 PM

I'm all for stricter rules, but whoever wrote that is missing something upstairs.

ishotmyself 01-17-2005 10:32 PM

I'm the webmaster from ww.ishotmyself.com. Thanks to the guy who invited me over to the thread, and to the guy who took all the effert to submit an email form to tell me I'm a retard. I guess it's obvious who the retard is.

The first thing that might shock all of you is that we're really not concerned about maximising profits. We don't invite affiliates, we put that page there so we didn't have to answer so many enquiries. But we do have quite a few affiliates, they convert well and they make money.

We don't always enforce the 'join first' rule, that's there to piss off the guys who promise to send us a zillion hits, then ask for a free account to get material. They download 300Mb and send 2 hits. All webmasters know that problem. We also have a list that gets clogged with well meaning bloggers who send a join a month or less, which doesn't pay for the overhead of keeping their account alive.

We're not in denial of being a porn site but we're not the same kind of porn site you guys spend most of your time promoting. Can anyone grok that?

We pay 40% for banner links because anyone can do that. We offer 50% to encourage people to make good galleries which will convert. We don't pay rebills because you sent us the customer, but we kept them for a second term.

We don't spam newsgroups, we post original, quality content on-topic, and stay clear of nospam groups.

We have a good site, and we enjoy running it. We respect our girls and they respect us, we get reviewed well and we have plenty of members. The best advice I've seen in this thread is what I wrote on our affiliate page - just go promote someone else. We're doing just fine thanky.

HTH.

studio 01-17-2005 10:43 PM

Simple fix... Just promote the girls of pineapplepink in stead...
