Do you order groceries online?

We do and it's pretty cool. You just get your order ready, place it on Friday and BAM! Monday morning the Simon Deliver's guy shows up with a ton of food. It's a great service, saves time, but their produce isn't that great. Things last maybe 1 week when usually they would last 3 weeks if you bought it yourself.

Sarah_Jayne 01-17-2005 10:06 AM

yup....Tescos in the UK has been doing it well for a numbr of years now. I don't do it every week but it is getting to be more frequent for me. I like not having to lug the cans and heavy stuff up the stairs to my flat.

fris 01-17-2005 10:07 AM

we have grocerygateway.com here never used it tho

NinjaSteve 01-17-2005 10:07 AM

You must try the wasabi Gourmayo!

candyflip 01-17-2005 10:08 AM

I used to do Priceline online when they did groceries.

Was lots of fun to buy $300 worth of stuff for around $100.

Alas, it was too good to be true and this particular business model of theirs crashed and burned.

kiana 01-17-2005 10:30 AM

nope cos the supermarket is 5mins away, and i'm not quite that lazy. Have used it before though, pretty good service, and you sometimes get the odd extra thing thrown in!

acuk 01-17-2005 10:40 AM

Used to with Tescos, but got fed up of the substitutions and knocked about fruit and veg :(
Still it's a good idea in principle..

axelcat 01-17-2005 10:43 AM

I have before and yes it is cool

SleazeQueen 01-17-2005 10:45 AM

I used WebVan for about a year. Every week they brought us a few boxes of stuff. It was great. I'd usually get produce at a produce stand a couple times a week, but the rest of the stuff came great. I was so sad when they died a horrible dot com death.

I have safeway online now where I live, but I haven't used them yet. I need to plan ahead more and make my list before I'm out of everything because the delivery windows are usually 2 days or so behind.

Screaming 01-17-2005 10:46 AM

nope cause the grocery store is the only time i get out by myself sometimes heh

Sarah_Jayne 01-17-2005 10:47 AM

From what I hear Tescos really depends on what store it comes from. We had our service change between stores and did notice a huge drop in quality but luckily they switiched it back.

Basic_man 01-17-2005 10:48 AM

Nop, never did it, and will never do ! I like to see exactly what I'm buying !!

acctman 01-17-2005 10:48 AM

get off of your lazy ass and go to the store

emthree 01-17-2005 11:15 AM

damn you people are lazy.

NinjaSteve 01-17-2005 11:28 AM

That's not lazy. It saves time. What you're saying makes it sound that if you order things from Amazon instead of going to the store makes you lazy.

abadfish 01-17-2005 11:31 AM

I saw albertsons was offering it but I can't imagine having someone else shop for me... I usually don't make lists anyway... I just go up and down every aisle and grab what I want. Plus I like to hand select fruits and vegetables.

fl_prn_str 01-17-2005 01:57 PM

It looks like a great service market thats really expanding, but outside of geriatric patients, shut-ins and yaught owners...if your too lazy to go to the store ya should be shot. :1orglaugh

count bling 01-17-2005 01:59 PM

Well, you try lugging cans, cat litter and bottled water up a few levels of stairs with a bad back in the city where people tend not to drive. Suddenly the five bucks delivery fee sounds great.

TheMob 01-17-2005 02:05 PM

nope, i eat out all the time

Susan F 01-17-2005 02:11 PM

We have the service available here, automercado does it, but have used it. I need to get

David! 01-17-2005 02:13 PM

I order water, cans and regular grocery items that are not fresh or refrigerated, beats having to carry them all the way to my door.

dcortez 01-17-2005 02:19 PM

SinBucks 01-17-2005 02:34 PM

Nope, not me

MandyBlake 01-17-2005 02:52 PM

i used to do that with webvan. then they went out of biz. that sucked.

VIPimp 01-17-2005 03:07 PM

Yep, with SafeWay.com... they have same day delivery now.

Kassidy 01-17-2005 03:19 PM

I do when I'm sick or don't feel like shopping with 3 kids in tow. It's the best invention ever! Our service only costs an extra $10 for delivery and if you order before 11am you get same-day delivery :)

tony286 01-17-2005 03:21 PM

when webvan went out of business I cried lol I hate shopping.

Noir 01-17-2005 03:23 PM

I do all the time. $10 bucks for delivery isn't that much all told. Plus it's nice to get everything you need, and not have to lug it all around.
