I don't even pay 50%/40%. I pay after completion to my satisfaction. Sometimes if I trust the guy and he asks for a partial advance I will agree, however (way) too many flakes in design and even more in programmers.

full payment upfront requires a lot of trust, and even if i was the one being paid..i wouldn't want everything up front, just so you can be sure im not gunna run off or something..

Always 50-50 sometimes 0-100 depending on who your dealing with.

I actually prefer my clients to pay on completion... Not sure why, I just do

Most people are pretty trust worthy, and I haven't been screwed in a year or so.

if i know where they live or they are longtime business associates they can get paid in full like rakim

And as for clients who don't pay... last 2 of minue I've had to take their sites down to get the cash they agreed on.. and we're only talking a few hundred dollars here..

Generally.. I feel you negotiate a price, present a concept, take a %50 deposit and then develop within time-frame, deliver and get the other 50%.

I also provide the mobile of previous clients (and with mine their numbers are on their sites.. escorts web sites) and I tell them call and ask.. nothing better than having confirmation from a previous client.. I understand that can't happen with a lot of stuff.. but that's my experience anyway.
