You know, I bought an affordable $350.00 Sony TRV 460, and was unhappy with how it handles dark situations, so I took it back and upgraded to the $1,000.00 DCR-HC85.
Took it home, tested it out, and went right back to best buy the next day to switch em back. I did VERY extensive research before buying a camera, and still fumbled my way through it. What I learned is that (with Sony anyway) there's no middle ground, if you're looking to save some cash, go with the cheapest model of Sony, but if you want ultra high quality at any cost, get their most expensive camera with CCD. The only limitations on this of course, is your preferred method; DVD, mini DV or Digital8, which prices vary. :2 cents: |
been looking into getting a vid camera soon.
what are your opinions on the mini dv ones for just shooting personal vid's ? |
I was just doing some research on this tonight, actually. I need a better cam for files for my site. I'd like to get something with widescreen ability, and uber high quality.
http://www.camcorderinfo.com/ratings.php Panasonic-PV-GS400 So far that's the best one in my range (under $1500 US). Any other recomendations? |
XL2 :thumbsup

I use and LOVE the VX2100. Got it off the internet for under $2200. Free shipping. Spent the extra $250 for a 4 year extended warrenty. If you do some serious shooting expect to be sending it to the shop to be cleaned and served every eight months or so. Sony charges $250 just to crack open my TRV900's.

The reviews I read didn't like the Sony that much.. what do you guys like about it?
|
bumpbump
I just got back from running around town for a few hours, checking out the local market. The stores seem to carry only up to the 1200$Cdn range, which is your basic Sony Handicam. The only semi-pro one above that was a JVC for 3300. Any thoughts on the JVC models? |
I have experience with the Sony VX2100, that was my last camera before upgrading to the panasonic AG-DVX100A. Both are awsome. But I am in love with the cinema features of the panasonic, besides, Premiere pro offers native support for it.
