I heard this am. 4 y/o girl sudden instant heart failure shortly after coming home from trick or treating

It's very sad about the poor girl. They are all jewels at that age.
She never even got to go to school. Sympathies to her parents.

I know Vancouver well and East Vancouver community of
Hastings-Sunrise is skid row. I don't think many parents take
their kids trick and treating in skid row.

I am hoping that they will be able to tell us that, it was something other than something in her candy

I am pretty sure that an autopsy would have already been able to detect a heart defect or something physical

people around here forget, that nutcase Ahmed Rassam was making his chemical bomb only 3 miles away from where this girl was trick or treating, so it is not inconceivable

I guess we just have to wait for the toxicology tests

It wasnt skid row...she was trick or treating in the clean part of the east side. A friend of mine lived next door to her. Very sad news.

It's very sad, but the reality is people have been putting razor blades and drugs and nails in fruit and candy for years at halloween. My bother 20 years ago got an apple with a nail in it trick or treating. Sept 11 just is just making everyone over panic on EVERYTHING

for the record, in the 70's the practice of putting razor blades etc in fruit started, and people began taking the kids haul to local hospitals to be x-rayed, however no kids ever died from these things.

There have been a few reported deaths from poison candy given to kids on Halloween, but every single confirmed case was due to a family member poisoning their own kids candy.

Do not be surprised if this turns out to be the case again this time. Of course, these stats only apply to the USA. I do not know what kind of weirdos they have up there in the great white tundra.

I live in fucken Montana & bull shit stuff liek that doesnt hapen here, bu this year some fucker put sewing needles in candy! I hope someone lives up to this states reputaion, & teh fucker doesnt even make it to trial!

I was kinda suprised, but guess I shouldn't have been. Remember the pepsi cola syringe thing? Over 60 reported cases - everyone proven a hoax except for one which they could not show either way (the first one).

Sad to see this happen to a child, but the sad fact is that children die everyday - and sometimes we just don't know why. We may never know. A friend of mine was engaged to be married to a man that just fell over and died (literally) one day a few years ago. They don't know why.

Of course, if I lived in that neighborhood - I wouldn't be eating any of my candy to be on the safe side, but that really is just a human reaction.

Within anthrax - neeedles - and everything else - the chances are so rare it is important to put it in perspective. You probably have a 100x greater chance of getting killed in an accident driving to pick up your anthrax antibiotics - than you ever do of getting anthrax.

Just like voting - it is very dangerous - you have a better chance dying on your way to the poll - than that any vote you cast will make a difference in an election. Except maybe in Florida.

And unfortunately, you probably have a better chance that a kid will be hit by a car trick or treating than anything else.

But we still have trick or treating, and still have driving.
