Just got a new Benz. Which Rims or Tint look best??

I just got a new Benz. The car is Silver and the interior is a dark grey. The rims that came on it are pretty decent 19's. I think I'll have to put 20 or 21's on it. Dont want to go too big but a little wont hurt :)

Also what do you guys think of going with silver tint? Have you seen that on a silver car before? Looks pretty cool but I dont want to look like a 16 y.o. either.

Here is my other dilema... I'm really tempted to go with Black rims.

What do you guys think? Post some pictures of some sick Benz's if you have some. Or if you guys know of any Benz chat boards or anything that I can check out some pics. I really cant buy rims based on a picture of the wheel. Not the same as seing it on a simular car.

CyberAgeDave... Point me to a good shop in L.A. that does wheel work would ya?? I'm not too trusting of the ones out here in Riverside. Also I need to get a chip for this thing. It only does 155 now :( Found that out on the way home from the dealership :) And if you are seriously interested in my 360 I'm putting it up for sale this week.

Za Ha 01-16-2005 06:52 PM

First thing that came to my mind were black rims :thumbsup

post some pix when you get them on.

jedi_dynasty 01-16-2005 06:53 PM

tell me your address and park it out side, u will no longer have to worry about those things

Illicit 01-16-2005 06:53 PM

Need to see pics to make the right call

Semi-Retired-Dave 01-16-2005 06:54 PM

This is funny, I have been away all weekend, I just logged on and this is the first thread I see.

Don't buy anything until you talk to me. I'll set you up tomorrow.

Congrats on the new Buy, I knew sooner or later you would end up with one.

SmutGiant 01-16-2005 06:54 PM

this thread is useless without pics!

And I think black rims would look sick! :winkwink:

PerfectionGirls 01-16-2005 06:54 PM

I think you are on the right track with the silver tinted rims. It would be a classy looking move and still not distract from the car itself. A Benz isnt something you need to pimp out I dont think... its has its own "pimp" statis. ;)

Semi-Retired-Dave 01-16-2005 06:55 PM

Looks like my sig got dissed over the weekend too.
Oh well, will have to take care of it later on.

wes 01-16-2005 06:57 PM

First question. I think you said the car is silver... if the car is silver, go with chrome rims. If the car is black. Go with black rims. Just my :2 cents:

reynold 01-16-2005 06:57 PM

Please post a pic so I'll have better judgements. :)

hova 01-16-2005 06:58 PM

black rims

LA Mike 01-16-2005 06:59 PM

Here is a picture of one..

I have never owned a Benz before.

Why did I even ask, I knew that was coming. :winkwink:

I was going to say a 230 Kompressor isn't really your style.

I agree... stay away from black rims... a benz needs to be classy

It really just depends.. I have been wanting to put black rims on something for awhile. I have some on my truck and it looks killer.. But the truck is a dark dark grey. Being that the benz is a lighter color I'm wondering. But what I would get would be black spokes but the ring is actually chrome still.

Not sure.. I need pics for ideas.

My M5 is being shipped to No. Cal this next week to Dinan for a supercharger to make is 650 ponies. That car is also getting black rims at the same time. But its a black car :)

BradM 01-16-2005 07:12 PM

Oh right, and to the question asked. Silver rims black tint. I am not a fan of black rims on a silver car. If the car was black, a jet black rim COULD look okay depending on what it was.
But for a silver car, stick with a silver/chrome rim and a black tint.

Those are the same rims that came on my car. I dont like them.. They are ok but nothing special. The spokes are like a dark grey..

Sami 01-16-2005 07:14 PM

Should have gotten a SL500.

They are really nice. :)

Pipecrew 01-16-2005 07:15 PM

Also black tint.

I know, but the stock rims look the best in my opinion, I have seen some others with silver and other black variations, cheapens the car in my opinion.

Silver tint looks horrible no matter what car it's on... I'm not a big fan of black limo tint either. 50% all around is subtle and looks nice on most cars :)

What's wrong with silver wheels? Chrome is gaudy and black/gunmetal is too often mistaken for steelies from a distance.

I hear ya... But there is no confusing steelies on a benz :)

RottenPug 01-16-2005 07:20 PM

CL65 is definitely overkill IMO, you're paying another $100k to grab less than half a second on the E55, but to each his own. Remember to call up the guy who built your engine and tell him if it breaks you are flying out to kick his ass. Beautiful car, enjoy it Mike! Thankfully you don't live in the Tri-State or those rims would last about a month, and you'd have to wait 4 months to drive her.

Yea, I totally agree with you on that money to speed ratios. I was dissapointed myself. But I had to get the biggest baddest one. If not I'll regret it later when they come out with something better I'll be even further behind. But to stick with your theory rather then buy a new M5 this summer Im keeping my old one with 470 horses and sending it to Dinan to put it 650. Now that I dont need it as a cruiser I might as well gut it and put in roll bars now... lol

The true beauty of this car is actually driving up to all the people who own the 55's and 500's that think they are the shit, and then seeing something that will own there ass.

Thats exactly why I love my Dinan M5... People have no idea.. But when I rev it, it sounds like a nascar.. where as this cl65 purrs and is REALLY quiet.

I seriously have more fun driving my CL65 and M5 more then my Ferarri or Saleen. I love being a sleeper!

I hope you post and let us know about the M with the dinan supercharger in it, Because i'am very curious.. Yesterday I had a flat, unfortunately unrepairable, 600 bucks later I got to leave the shop with a new tire, I had no idea bmw tires were so pricey.

GTS Mark 01-16-2005 07:32 PM

Damn you Mike and your wonderful life!!!!

DH

P.S. Thanks again for dinner at Internext ;)

Oh yea... I'll definately post about it and maybe make a quick little video :)

I can't wait.. they said they need it for 2 months though.

My car is already a Dinan S2 they say 470-500 hp and 4.1 0-60
Dinan has done one test car and there is one car ahead of me on the production line. There is a number of things I had to get in order for them to do the supercharger. The super charger alone puts the car up to 630hp, and I'm adding cams to make it about 660hp

I'm getting on the M5:
New Wheels to fit the bigger breaks
Redoing the rear subframe to handle the power
Complete new racing shocks and track suspesion setup
New Stronger/stiffer clutch
Stage4 computer upgrade
Racing Cams

Morphius... lol, well does it help if I say I live in the nice area of Riverside? lol I actually live in Canyon Lake though. Looking to build in South O.C. somewhere

Pornwolf 01-16-2005 07:45 PM

Stay away from the black rims. The only time I have seen it work is on a black droptop. That car was a straight blackout. Black tint, black rims, black paint... but it was very hot. Everytime I have seen black rims on any car that wasn't black it just looked ordinary.

If you have silver tint chrome rims make your car just shine.

Do it.

There has to be a website out there that allows you to pick a rim style and see it on a car. Lots of video games do this. I gotta do some Googleing. now I want to see some options :thumbsup

Why not buy an airplane?

I bought three of them before I moved to Vegas, but sold them before I moved... but I'm thinking about buying another.

Trust me, it would be years before you had the skill to handle something like that anyway. Start out with a nice single engine Piper and experience the saturday $100 hamburger. Thats where you pick an airport, fly to it for lunch, then fly back. Costs about $100 by the time you've paid for fuel and lunch. Sure is alot of fun though.

You meet really neat, usualy well off people who own nice planes and sports cars themselves. There is always someone richer with more toys....

This was my last plane

boneprone 01-16-2005 07:58 PM

Damn man......

Never a fan of black rims.

Always Chrome.........

Either way im sure its a sweet ride.

Get the Chrome....

Unless you got so much chrome already and you are just bored of it.

But the black makes the ride more conservative in my opinion.
Nice, but chrome always has that flash effect.
