* * Who Else Here Had A Domain Hijacked? I've gotten 3 GFY e-mails already.

It seems like there is a GFY connection with these domain hijackings. I've gotten 3 e-mails from webmasters saying the same thing happened to them and asking for the high level contact at dotster that I got for Sleazy to contact.

I've already relayed the contact info to Sleazy, so let's take it one at a time. I don't want to bombard this guy since the referral came through a friend a mine.

i wonder if the other ones were shit talkers too...

fünkmaster 01-16-2005 01:25 PM

... almost 5 years ago whitepower.com (1500 typeins per day back then) was hijacked, the guy still runs it today. I tried everything to get it back, but couldn't get anywhere. the domain was hijacked by simply sending a transfer email to networksollutions.

I just found something really disturbing. I registered a new domain with Registerfly just yesterday, and I made damn sure it was locked.

I looked at it today at whois.sc, and the status was Active. Checking Registerfly, the lock was gone. I checked a handful of other domains, and about one in five was no longer locked - I verified the locks on all my domains a couple weeks ago. I bulk-locked them all.

I'll be watching this - it's pretty fucked up.

godaddy is not imune to this. It happens over there quite often.

KRL 01-16-2005 01:49 PM

OK, I sent the contact info to one of the 3 who had a real sounding letter. One of the others I accidently deleted so resend them to me and I'll hook you up with the contacts I got.

... and what's even funnier ... the domain was http://www.blackstreetboys.com/ ... I picked that domainname myself and even better there where only black schlongs on the site (they changed it now) and it did really well ... fucking nazis !!

abyss_al, if you got the connections ... hit me up !!

If you guys want a highly secure registrar, I would suggest going with Moniker. Ask for Monte. Its a smaller registrar, compared to some of the big ones mentioned, but he handles all the major domain accounts himself personally so its literally like having a human bodyguard protecting your domain.

im tryin to transfer a domain millerbeers.com to the miller beer company and have had to unlock the domain 3 different times, each time they somehow relocked it, now they need the last 4 digits of my social as well as the last 4 digits of my credit card number, just to transfer one domain. Im not worried about anyone stealin any of my domains i have with godaddy.com

blazi 01-16-2005 01:59 PM

what's with all the domain hijacking cases lately? I just read about something similar on another board as well...

SmokeyTheBear 01-16-2005 02:01 PM

wierd i wonder if the guy read the thread i made along time ago, i had listed a bunch of popular domains that were UNLOCKED and lots had nonworking emails, so the transfer email would just bounce , thus go thru

Yeh, GoDaddy has really locked things down. You have to have codes to communicate and get things done. Good move.

SmokeyTheBear 01-16-2005 02:02 PM

the guy got F3.COM also * dont click it unless you have virus protection

Have you heard anything bad, or have any thoughts in general, about Register.com ?

Appreciated.

I have bulk-locked them all a while ago too, with RegisterFly. I just checked them through whois.sc and they're still locked. Might be an isolated incident?

So is DirectNIC the best choice out there these days, in regards to management as well as support?
