Does your grandmother use the internet?
I think it's great that my grandmother is open minded and learning but damn it can be frustrating sometimes.
I'm the computer guy in the family so that means that any and all questions or help is directed my way. In the past 3 years, she's finally gotten used to msn messenger, she's finally gotten used to hotmail and to her own personal email from her ISP. It was NO PICNIC teaching her. Now she's moved and thus changed ISP's and I have to explain to her that the personal email she had with her ISP before is gone.. no more.. can't get it. And so far it's been a week and she's still not sure why she can't just load up Outlook and get her emails. If it weren't so frustrating, it would be amusing. |
No, she's over 80.

Nop, my grand-mother have a damn digital camera and after one year, she can't remember how to erase the pictures.. I hope she'll never get a damn COMPUTER !!! :d

Nope she's over 80. Tried giving her lessons on getting it set up, but she never turns it on.

My grandma is close to 80, she plays texas holdem on POGO regularly!

I do not have any grandmothers left :(
but my Dad is old and uses the net and he is always asking me to help him with something or other to fix his comp after getting a virus or spyware or any other thing that happens. Since his stroke his memory is not the best, so he has been asking for even more help |
i teached my granma to create an e-mail, and to see pictures. last time i saw, she was creating a folder with her name and copyng the pictures she liked most. i found it quite amazing

My grandparents are also gone... But, my Mom has 2 desktops and 2 laptops. This past year she set up wireless at her house as well as networked all her computers together. She emailed me a few days ago that she had signed up for a Photoshop class at the community college near her.
If she can stop forwarding all those jokes and cheezy emails... :disgust |
I set my grandparents up with a computer and access and they love it.
They live right next door, and rarely have any issues. |
My grandmother hasn't mastered a VCR and ended up taking a cell phone back because she couldn't manage using it by herself. She hasn't the slightest interest in a computer:error
|
Seeing that one is dead and the other is in a home I would have to say no.
|
All my grandparents are long gone, even my parents for that matter. None of them ever got on the Internet when alive though. My mom knew I was working online and she just found it a hard concept to understand. To her you had to sit in an office to make money and no one would pay you if you were at home.

nope. she doesn't have a computer.. and I doubt she could use the internet ;)

My mother on the otherhand is another story. After a week or so she thought she was an internet whiz. I regularly help get her computer working again:1orglaugh (to be fair, there are others that use the computer, so some of it is likely them).
It's taking her a bit of time to grasp that "written on the internet" is not as reliable as "written in the newspaper" and most anything "tech" in the few places she surfs I probably already know about. She excitedly called me last week to tell me about something she had found. It's called an affiliate program and they pay you up to $300 everytime someone signs up! She thought that would work perfectly with the webpages I make.:1orglaugh:1orglaugh I don't know where she thought the money I make from my webpages comes from, but I did explain to her there are many rip-off affiliate programs:glugglug |
:thumbsup cool techie grandma! My grandma is 89 years old and still strolling out.

No, but my mother just bought a computer before Christmas. This is a woman who hasn't even mastered the vcr......................
It's not pretty. |
