I like a black background with really high quality content but thats just me

A lot of it has to do with the demographics of your surfer..
The asian countries tend to sell better with pastel colors, and earth tones, where as the U.S. surfers tend to sell better with hard colors, red, black, white.. Another thign to consider it what KIND of site you have.. A Bondage site wouldn't sell well if it had a pastel pink or baby blue background, and a teen site wouldn't sell well ( I guess ) with a harsh / black background :2 cents: |
LIGHT background + QUALITY content + TASTEFUL design = better conversions. Black is too underground for me, never liked it.

I wonder if there are any particular colors that affect libido or a desire to spend money. They say red & orange make people hungry, which is why a lot of restaurants, particularly fast food places, use those colors.

it has nothing to do with the color - fuscia will sell if your content is hot, its all about your content!!!! But design wise, I would go white for teen, softcore, etc, and black for really hardcore, fetish, public nudity / clubbing etc. Don't forget the other 16.7 Million colors in between, its not always that simple!

The darker the better...not as hard on the eyes
