Great Day: I have 20/20 vision now and am HIV-free!

I was a little worried about the blood-test because it has been around 2 years and I've been with more than my share of women (except for the past 9 months where I've been loyal to my gf!)...glad to see it come out negative.

As for laser surgery, it was a breeze, and in the day-after checkup this morning I'm seeing 20/20 (possibly a tiny bit better)

Go me :thumbsup

Congrats

Sly 01-14-2005 06:09 PM

Dude, no offense, but... you have been seeing someone for 9 months now and were a little worried about your test results? That doesn't seem quite right.

Regardless, congratulations. I'm looking into the eye surgery myself. I've had enough of contacts.

Well I wanted to wait until after I was sexually promiscuous to have the testing done, and I read most accurate results are 6-9 months after your last thought risk...

The girl I'm with now is well aware of my actions in the past and that I hadn't been tested in awhile, so I was not hiding it from her...but I see your point.

20 was just my first 2-3 weeks in costa rica .....atleast in this country i always used condoms though. However back in MOntreal I slept with many girls unprotected, now that I've tested negative I intend to cover it up from now on though. I'm not a kid anymore :winkwink:

BradM 01-14-2005 06:16 PM

WOW man congrats. I want to get laser done too. I can't stand not being able to see.

Man it was so simple and smooth. They put a wire to hold your eyelids open, put a suction tube on your eyeball so it doesn't move, slice flap of your eye open (sounds painful but i didnt feel any pain), laser you, put it back. 5 minutes per eye.

Then one hour seeing blurry, after that I've seen crystal clear since :)

Definately worth it for $1000 total price

TNALee 01-14-2005 06:42 PM

good news, now get the dirt off your shoulders

myjah 01-14-2005 06:55 PM

Glad to hear about both your successes! I want the laser eye surgery sooo bad, I'm glad to hear positive feedback about it!

psyko514 01-14-2005 06:57 PM

Where did you get the surgery done? Costa Rica, Montreal or elsewhere?

I wanna get it done.

Alex 01-14-2005 06:59 PM

Some people take those things for granted.
Having normal vision and std-free.

But im glad it means a lot to you and congrats

canplayer 01-14-2005 07:01 PM

Ya, tell us more about the laser surgery. Did you do it in montreal, where, and how much? Was there a lot of pain too. My dad had it done, and has cloudy vision in 1 eye. He had it done 2 years ago, and they promised him technology would be around to fix it, however, it hasn't come out. So I'm a bit skeptical. Also, do you need to wear glasses to have it done? I read somewhere you needed to be wearing glasses for at least 2 years.

Rorschach 01-14-2005 07:16 PM

i'd be keen to hear about your lasik experience too, have you had any vision problems since? ghosting etc?

Kard63 01-14-2005 07:18 PM

i had lasiks. loved it.

yeah bro, i had that eye surgery about 2 years ago. i have 20-15 vison now.

it feels like it gets better every day too.

canplayer 01-14-2005 07:28 PM

Has anyone had lasik who didn't wear contacts/glasses. My vision is pretty bad but I refuse to go to an eye doctor and have him tell me I need glasses/contacts which i won't wear anyways.

axelcat 01-14-2005 07:30 PM

congrts, im scared to do the surgery

Head 01-14-2005 07:34 PM

Glad to hear all s well! Let me know how your night vision is. I've been thinking of taking the plung myself.

Anthony 01-14-2005 07:37 PM

Congrats Bro!

I'm going in for consultation for my right eye which is 20/200.

Varius 01-15-2005 12:54 PM

Ok to answer the above questions:

I got it done in Costa Rica. Anyone wanting the contact info can hit me up, cost was $137 for tests and $880 for both eyes. Normal price is double, but there was a 50% special until Jan 30th.

I didn't notice any problems yet, or any at night. I was out all night last night and saw clearly, no real 'halo' effect or anything. So far, so good I recomend it completely :thumbsup

MickeyG 01-15-2005 12:57 PM

heh your crazy, I would have never gotten that done in costa rica. Glad to hear it all worked out for ya

Steen2 01-15-2005 12:58 PM

I want it too! But I was told that you can't see at night very well after?

Costa Rica is known for it's low cost, high quality plastic surgery. I would assume it's also known in the laser eye surgery industry.

Indica 01-15-2005 01:04 PM

congrats on both the lazer eye..and the hiv test. :)

Actually Costa Rica is known to have great healthcare (doctors and dentists)...many americans fly down here just for operations or dental work because it's cheaper than doing it in the US

I was told I might see the halo effect around lights at night, but was out partying last night and didn't experience it.

I guess once the eyes stabalize after 3 months, I'll be able to see exactly what effects I have if any.
