An Indian man has told why he eats lizards to get a high.

Amresh Singh says he feels confident and superhuman after consuming five or six.

The rush given him by the mildly poisonous lizard flesh apparently equals a few grams of marijuana.

Mr Singh, from Lucknow, has long abused substances - starting with cigarettes, alcohol and then drugs ranging from marijuana to sleeping pills and injections.

After eating lizards, he loses consciousness, bleeds from his orifices and has breathing problems, reports The Times of India.

(YEAH!)

Psychiatrist Vandana Srivastav said: "It is a strange addiction and, mind you, a very dangerous one. I have not come across anything like this in my practice."
