The Fluexetine gave me erectile dysfunction too. :(

Quitting paxil is tough becasue you feel like you're losing your mind. I dont know how the FDA approved this garbage with a clear conscience. If you're trying to quit just switch to Lexapro for a few weeks and then quit that. No problems with the nasty withdrawl you get from Paxil.

The drug companies got the FDA in there pockets and shit. Waiting to see the day this Paxil shit gets recalled

Why the fuck do people think that a prescription will solve a problem? Ever hear of "for ever reaction there is an equal and opposite reaction"? Pharmaceutical companies would NEVER create a drug that solves a problem, if they did they would sell like hotcakes in the beginning but then no one would buy the drug because everyone is cured. Why do you think all drugs say "May cause..."? Because when that "May cause..." does occur the same pharmaceutical company will have a drug to solve that problem. The only time when a drug is necessary is when someone is in cancer treatment and that's it. Pain is controlled by one's mind and not by anything else.

Its called the "medical machine". Drug companies donate tons of money to schools of medicine in order to turn these soon to be doctors into their drug dealers. No synthetically manufactured drug will ever cure a human of any condition and most likely will create more harm than good. The foreign chemicals they push creates a toxin buildup in our body. The cause of most disease is due to the introduction and buildup of foreign chemicals in our body, such as pesticides in our food, chemicals in our water, and the drugs half this country gulps down on a daily basis.

There are much better natural methods for treating and sometimes curing diseases but the government, drug companies and the doctors scoff it off as quackery. Why? Nothing natural can be patented therefore there is no profit. It only makes sense that our body will react in a much better way from something that is natural than a chemical. The healing powers of fruits and vegetables have never even been tested by the FDA or any governmental agency even though many people have been able to rid themselves of cancer and other diseases with a strict fruit and vegetable diet. Yet the medical communities answer to cancer is to administer drugs that kill the immune system, which only adds to the problem. Most doctors know this yet they continue this barbaric practice because its very profitable. The average cost for cancer treatment is $277,000, why would they want to find another way?

Unless you have a broken limb or in a serious accident the farther you stay away from doctors and hospitals the better off you'll be.

SSRI's aren't stuff to be taken lightly...Though they may help if you actually need them you should seek proper medical help (and if you need it even a shrink).

Paxil has serious side-effects and withdraws symptoms....

Not to mention most don't even sell the real thing but actually "semi-fake-generics" from India, and some don't even have the proper active "ingredients"

Most people lack lots of information regarding the problems that come with SSRI's usage and don't understand that they alone don't fix nothing but more like "hide" the problems.

Belive me I've already saw and heard some pretty nasty storys about pharma companies (and not talking about wierd ones from India) and what they do to presuade (sp) the doctors...

Its one of the most dirty bussiness in the world...(plus pharma companies that don't do proper trials, but still get FDA approvals, hide studys reporting side-effects and other problems,etc..)

Stop blaming the pill pushers. It's the PEOPLE taking the pills who are to blame.

It's the parents who give their children Ritalin because they are too lazy to keep their child active and interested in hobbies. It's the people popping anti-depressants because they are too afraid to deal with the underlying issues that cause their depression. Etcetera. Etcetera.

Blaming pharmaceutical companies is a cop out. Blame your pansie-ass-pill-popping self for your dependencies. Only if if your tied down and force-fed the medication can you argue otherwise.

I've been on Paxil (Seroxat in the UK) for 5 years now. Tried quitting Paxil on numerous occassions because it has definitely slowed down my metabolism which has resulted in appox 30lb weight gain over that period of time.

However, it does work for me. It makes me feel better in general. But I know I need to stop because it's never a good thing to be on a chemical fix for any extended period of time. I have read loads of articles on these SSRI drugs and I have just a few days ago switched over to PROZAC ( flouroxtine ) with no obvious mental/physical problems/differences than I experience with PAXIL.

It is generally accepted that you can STOP taking PROZAC without the need for "tapering the dosage" ..... this is what I am hoping for.

With PAXIL, even "tapering the dosage" seems not to work. The withdrawals are actually worse than the original symptoms of depression/anxiety :-(

Now, what I hope to do is stay on the Prozac for a couple of months and then stop taking it. The ultimate goal is to be off it for good. I think PAXIL is a terrible drug in general. I am not sure why it causes so much problems when attempting to withdraw but it certainly does. There is quite a bit of scientific evidence to suggest that the drug companies basically REBRANDED valium-based drugs and invented the new name SSRI :-(

I think GSK have a lot to answer for.
