HELP! I've been having muscle spasms constantly, all over my body....

Okay,

now before everyone starts telling me to go see a doctor: I don't have medical insurance. I will go to the doctor if from everyones opinions, as well as some research on the net reveals that it's something serious.

As far back as I can remember I have had small muscle spasms. Sometimes in my eyelid, sometimes my thumb. But it was very rare, and it was very quick to pass.

Around two weeks ago it started to get really bad. It started to constantly occur in my thumb, my arm, my cheek, my calf and my knee. Happens daily, and usually lasts about 15-30 seconds.

Also, starting at the same time, my bladder has turned into the size of a peanut. I'm constantly urinating!

Now, just two days ago, I spoke with my roomate, who also happens to be my brother, and get this....He is having the SAME EXACT problems as me!!

I'm thinking since we both have it, it could have something to do with food, water, that sort of stuff.

Does anyone know what the hell is going on with me? Or are we just going through evolution and have already started our mutation process?

I concur 100%

Go stay in a hotel for a few days and see if you get better. It could be something in your house.

I know - but you never know if someone else on here has experienced the same problems as me and my brother.

BV 01-13-2005 04:40 PM

to bad your brother is your roomate then i would say it's something you both are ingesting, but since it's your brother it could be a hereditary thing

devilspost 01-13-2005 04:41 PM

You need to see a doctor and you need to do it fast. You never know what can that be.

Tanker 01-13-2005 04:53 PM

I would seek medical attention

Idiot, why don't you have a medical insurance?

Paco, of Large Cash. 01-13-2005 04:59 PM

see a doctor - chances are you have something wrong with your nervous system ... and not just some GP.

Twitches or spasms are not a good sign, no matter the 'strength'.

DirtyGold-Doug 01-13-2005 04:59 PM

probably stress combined with way too much caffiene

I get that once in a while, it's usually from too much caffiene

cut down of foods and beverages with caffiene, drink more water see what happens

J.Lond 01-13-2005 05:15 PM

Get yourself to a county hospital, free clinic, whatever, but get's yourself to a doctor. Your body is telling you something is wrong with it and the best I can tell there are no medical doctors on GFY.

emthree 01-13-2005 05:26 PM

Same shit happened to me for a period, I think it was due to stress and overworking.
Possibly lack of proper nutrition, since I use to eat once a day back then.

It eventually stopped, when I started to take things slower.

BV 01-13-2005 05:27 PM

you and your brother don't work around pesticides do you? or where you live maybe?

It could be the air in your place. Try to circulate the air more.

bdld 01-13-2005 06:48 PM

i say its stress-related.

Babagirls 01-13-2005 07:03 PM

could be a lot of things.

something in your house, foods your eating, muscles that arent used much anymore and turning into fat, or vice versa (if you workout), muscles could be spasing from having muscles grow...etc etc

i know you dun wanna see a doc, but thats your best bet. :2 cents:

D Flower 01-14-2005 12:42 AM

I know you don't have insurance, but I think going to a doctor is the safest thing to do. There is a chance that it could be something serious and if that is the case you don't want to wait. Good luck!

Furious_Female 01-14-2005 04:46 AM

Go to a doctor, even if it's a free clinic, who cares... just go.

If you are peeing a lot, the muscle spasms *might* be because of the loss of potassium from peeing so much. I have taken water pills and they always say to eat a banana with them, because of the potassium loss. I have experienced very PAINFUL muscle spasms from loss of potassium. Your sudden increase in urination could be one of many things, including diabetes. See a doctor, you really need to find out what's going on.

killshot 01-14-2005 04:58 AM

Since you have no insurance and i assume you are self employed ... go check out www.NASE.org I've been using them for 6 years and i think the rates are decent and have never had any problems

If you really can't afford any insurance at all.. see what kind of programs exist in your area to help people without insurance...

Or maybe go twitch on the whitehouse lawn so that you can send a message to our president that we need some better healthcare in america.

Just a word of caution, my Dad had NASE and when he had to use it, they delayed payments for so long to the providers that he had to pay them off himself to avoid going to collections. In addition, he had to sue them to get $25K that they didn't pay.

And America has one of the best health care systems in the world. It is also filled with people who would rather buy new spinners for their Civic than pay for health insurance.

Go to a free clinic you will get help

Problem is going to the Doctor is one thing, paying for all the diagnostic tests are another...he needs probally a couple thousand in tests.

This could be MS, this could be a reaction, this could be some form of parkinsons, who knows...but the tests needed he cannot afford..so going to the Doctors may not yield a diagnosis without the tests.

If it were me with no med insurance, wait until you have a bad bout, go to the ER, they cannot refuse you because you cannot pay, and then pay like $25 a month to them, and if you have to just blow the bill off...at least you will labs done..etc in an Er environment.

XpressMedia 01-14-2005 07:45 AM

I would suggest Xanax, Klonapin or Soma. Might help you out.

This was my first thought - loss of potassium.

Simple test - cram a few bananas down your throat. If it's a lack of potassium the twitches should stop or slow down within a few hours. If not, do see a doc :-)

Sounds like mild lead, syanide or strychninec poisoning. you can go to a medical website online and type in all your symptoms and see what comes up.it might be the water or the paint or mold spores in the walls. The doctors will be able to tell you right way whats its from. :2 cents:

What happened about 2 weeks ago?

Your symptoms do fall into the anxiety guidelines, however a cns / neural disorder cant be ruled out either.

Might solve symptom, but not problem?

Maybe a drive to Canada?

Good luck.

Sly 01-14-2005 08:44 PM

When you mentioned peeing the first thing I thought of was diabetes. I don't know if spasms are a symptom or not.

You should definitely go in.

CAHEK 01-14-2005 08:54 PM
