My pc just crashed, advice please
 
Ok so I was working on some psd and my pc freezes. So I reset and want to get back but now my complete G:/ partition is gone. The otehr partittions on the same harddrive are still there and working but just my G:/ is gone. When I double click it in explorer it asks me if I want to format it (wich I don't want ofcourse) Is there some way to solve this at home or should I take it to some recovery company?

Damn I am fucked, 2 weeks of work gone if I am not able to fix it.

If other partitions on the drive are still working, you probably won't have any trouble getting the data back. Just search Google for data recovery utilities. You might even find something on http://www.sourceforge.net

You can also try something like PartitionMagic in case the whole problem is just an error in the partition table.

Hi m8, what is the brand of the hard-drive?

You should do a test with the software provided by the brand to first see if the disk is damaged (physically that is)

If its Seagate you need "SEATOOLs", for Hitachi its "Hitachi's Drive Fitness Test",etc..etc..

Then after you have a proper diagnostic, I would recommend you try one(or all) of the following tools to try to recover the data:
Ontrack Easy Recovery Pro -> http://www.ontrack.com/

You could try also this one:
HDD Regenerator -> http://www.dposoft.net/

There are many more solutions, but try this ones first.

Also be sure you have a proper hdd to move all the recovered data to it...cause if it failed once like that chances are it will get fucked up again real soon ;)
