AMD Durons?
Are these things any good? I hear they do outstanding in benchmarks but how are they compatible with win2k and other MS software?
Any problems for you video encoders with Durons?' Thanks! |
Durons are cool.... nothin' wrong with 'em, but I would spend the extra couple bucks and get the bigger Athlons...
|
Yup, I agree with Amp.
T-Bird are so cheap right now, it doesn't pay off to get a Duron anymore. |
thx guys.... this is stock for a notebook.. so i don't really have much choice..either duron or $300+ more smackers for a PIII
|
For some reason, the only servers we have HW problems with are AMDs. Go figure.

hey lensman
your Servers are having problems cuase you are probally using that shitty windows NT server http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/smile.gif Use Freebsd and Properly Tune the kernal and they are some Kick ass servers we use them for the freehost Durons are nice But get thunderbirds or athalons if you can afford it ------------------ Stynk Adult Freehost FuckHost Freehosting |

LMAO, you're talking to lensman and using the phrase 'if you can afford it' http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/biggrin.gif |
As far as problems go, I guess it's been pretty even for me at about 50/50 between AMDs and Intel... so I couldn't really say if it's been attributed to the cpu or not... I did have one Athlon 1Ghz cpu take a crap on me about a year ago. But I'm still using virtually all Athlons here, two Durons and only one Pentium.

if you can afford it was not directed to lensmen But To the rest of the webmasters
I hope lensman can afford a 30 processor alpha machine if he wanted ------------------ Stynk Adult Freehost FuckHost Freehosting |
Yeah, switch operating systems because of a processor, LOL.
Every time we try AMD, we have problems. We're only buying 100% Intel now. |
AMD 1.2Ghz and higher with 266Mhz is da best for desktop
but for servers: PIII-850-1000 still is the best choice, dual is great thing if u run lotsa scripts. btw nt servers r not so bad, most problems r coming from iis and lack of good remote administration |

AMD Processors are good for servers Especially the Dual Amd processors and they are faster then Intel
Lens I know you run windows and i dont expect you to switch from the Wintel monopoly after all it is what big buisness wants paying for Site licenses and shit Big bucks bet its a great tax right off to pay for NT server on all your servers http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/smile.gif ------------------ Stynk Adult Freehost FuckHost Freehosting |

There's been a lot written about AMD's melting down if the fans die unlike the Intel chips that will apparently not turn into a heap of slag. This is good in a server http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/wink.gif ------------------ Make BANK with these Babes! The Webmaster's Folder The Midnight TGP2 Submitter |
Nope on the fan failure... checked it.. popped in a new cpu and still using the same heatsink and fan, and no troubles...
