Computer Experts help - RAID configuration using two SCSI drives
Now i'm pretty much a n00b in the RAID harddrive configuration but i got my hands on two SCSI drives; one is 36gb the other is 18gb both running at 15,000 RPM. Is it possible to hook thes up together in a RAID0 configuration or do they have to be the same size? What will be the final size of the drive if i successfully connect them in an array; 54, 36 or 18gb? Please excuse my n00bieness, i never did anything like this before. I also plan to use an Adaptec Ultra160 PCI card as the controller. Any computer expert help out plz.

I believe they need to be the same size...

You can't do much of anything raid wise if the disks don't match. 2 disks is also a very poor raid configuration. You would be just a good to use the 36g drive as a regular drive, and back up the best parts to the 18 gig regularly.

You can do a raid with different size drives, but they will be limited to the smallest drive you have, with two drives you can do a mirror, but that may be to slow for what you are doing. The way to go is Raid 5, for that you need one more drive :)
