No team is going to die. That is why there is a lockout, to stop this from happening.

Next year, but expect to see some teams gone. To many teams are loosing money big time.

The players have ruined the sport... just like they did baseball. It took forever for baseball to regroup... some teams never have.

NHL is pretty much screwed and they owe it all to the players.

Baseball did this in 94', and it hurt them tremendously many years thereafter. Hockey, a much less popular sport having a lock out? Could result in much much more damage. Baseball bounced back, simply because it's baseball. But I don't know if Hockey can emulate the same resilience.

Don't be surprised is some teams are gone when this is all said and done the NHL expanded too fast and don't have the fan base to support itself in so many towns

it sucks for us here in calgary, we finally had a taste of playoffs again, i lost hockey there for a while but now it is pumping mad, you people should have been here while the flames were in the playoffs seriously NUTS 60-70k people all on 1 road at one time, the entire city was a party.

the NHL needs to get rid of some teams there are to many teams for the amount of marquee talent.

seems bad now but when it comes back it will be better...finally a league standing up to overpaid whiney pro athletes...I would rather have no hockey than hockey thats like baseball with 2 teams buying all the players, the yankees pay more in tax than other teams payrolls, whats the "sport" in that

this shutdown was necessary - it was a sport that let the fucking inmates run the asylum, Bettman did a great job finding rich Americans to sink some major dough into hockey in non-hockey markets - but owners being the way they are and wanting to compete allowed the players to be paid more than NFL players, as much as NBA players - when the revenues of an NHL team are a fraction of what an NFL team makes and less than half of what an NBA team brings in. The players stole the owners blind - the owners have nobody to blame but themselves BUT they are doing the right thing now - they have offered the players a fair deal, what they should have been making all along, between 50-60% of the gross revenues of the league. The players association is a piece of shit and needs to be broken whether it takes one year or 5 years. Their offer was completely disingenous and Bettman nailed them on it, the players know that all it takes is one or two dumb owners and no matter what new CBA is signed the agents and players will start the inflation of salaries all over again. A salary cap tied to revenues is the only way to go.

i couldn't care less, the NHL had turned into a boring pile of shit - that I do blame on Bettman, drastic changes needed to be made to the rules.
