Why did dipshit pledge 350 Million bucks to the tsunami people?

Quote:

He has pledged $350 million in U.S. aid -- a figure that he has indicated will increase as needs demand.
I think that money could have served the US people better ie: healthcare for old people who cant afford it and such.

Fuck the tsunami people.

Sig space as this will be a interesting thread

Jon

1. It's $1.28 per capita

2. GWB plans to spend $40 million on a total of 9 planned inauguration parties (google for NY times magazine's interview with Jeanne L. Phillips)

kingfoo1 01-11-2005 06:14 PM

they didn't say how much this person is worth, it could be bill gates for all we know. I think he gave away 4-5 bil last year to charities

AVM 01-11-2005 06:17 PM

I agree! I had to pay fucking $300 dollars this week - In a walk in clinic, to get my thumb taken care of. All the doc did was touch it, say "Gee, yea it's infected" and wrote me a script for anti-biotics. I'm far from tight on dollars - I make a very good living. But the general principle remains. US citizens getting fucked, when such necessary care should be free. F Tsunami people! Say it loud...*chant*

Libertine 01-11-2005 06:18 PM

What a lame-ass trolling thread.

I am not deabting that death was bad , death is bad in general. I am stating why we are obligated to send over 350 mil?

Sure i feel bad about the many deaths , but do you not remember how many terrorists were harbored there? nahhh nobody seems to remember that part...
The same terrorists that would inevitably cause harm to many worldwide.

You just said it was PEOPLE pledging to send 350 million, NOT the government. So what's wrong with PEOPLE spending their own money on what they want to.

God knows you spend yours on some interesting items that I wouldn't necessarily buy, but I'm not bitching at you for doing that. :upsidedow

Until they are able to stand and hold a gun to my face they are not my enemy, nor yours. The vast majority that died in the tsunami were women and children if I recall correctly.

I have to go, otherwise I live in pain and eventually move up to gangrene. Whereas I lose my thumb. Now, onward - It's about priorities. We've to put our preservation in the forefront. What's good for our nation in it's entirety, first. We're not responsible, it's not "our fault" either. Yet, since we're one of the World leaders, we need to sympathize and keep up with the Jone's. We need to put up enough money, otherwise we're Tyrants.

Tired of this country's incessant need to impress.

Fletch has a very valid point.

You people bitch about 350 million dollars to a disaster recovery vs 3 billion given to Israel every year. Gee.

I bet those 3 billion/year could be very well spent towards the betterment of US education/healthcare

If this thread was in regard to that - I would complain as well.
If it read "Why did dipshit give 3 billion" - My sentiments would remain the same.

I don't distinguish between countries. :disgust :winkwink:

So put "your preservation in the forefront" and pay for it yourself, its probably your fault you have a crapped up thumb anyway.......

just like the millions spent on the war could have ended welfare and pverty amongst the american people and revitalized an ailing education platform that we rely so heavily upon for the future of our country.

i'm starting to believe that the goal is to keep americans dumb, stupid, and barefoot in the streets.

Its a drop in the bucket compared to how much we have paid so far to destroy Iraq: $149,442,965,524

Yes, thats 149 billion.

killshot 01-11-2005 07:23 PM

I would love to see health care for people... but any time you start talking about providing healthcare people call you a fucking commie and try to kill you.

Also.... Keep in mind that 350 million doesnt buy shit..

$350 is what we spend every 31 hours in Iraq..... thats right.. just 31 hours.. you think thats going to pay for healthcare?

pxxx 01-11-2005 07:27 PM

What he did was not bad at all.

xclusive 01-11-2005 07:35 PM

The US needs to stop being the welfare system of the world we are hated by everybody so why should we give them money when we need it. I believe that we should have sent our troops over like we did to help save lives but where does it say we have to help them rebuild? Same goes for Iraq why should they get brand new text books when my kids will have to use 3rd generation or worse in our schools...

Because your government's just spent $150 billion on a useless war?

How many school textbooks does that represent?

Spunky 01-11-2005 07:44 PM

Our little country of Canada is donating over 800 million..I was watching the news and school kids in small comunities have raised like 75 k...really quite amazing ..They are human beings and have lost everything including families..That really is a small drop in the bucket for what they will need to rebuild their lives

If people really wanted good education for their children then they would demand it and elect a person who understands the importance of education

this is not what the majority of america wants, so your kids don't get good textbooks...

I totally agree the Bush whitehouse is way out of control and does nothing for our country that is why my kids will be going to private school. Just pisses me off that those who can't do that have to suffer after all the children are our future and we should invest in that.

I missed getting hit (in Phuket) by FOUR DAYS and I lost a few good Thai friends to the tsunami. Your "Fuck the tsunami people" comment is extremely offensive and disrespectful. My friends were good people with families and worked harder than anyone on this board every dreamed of, just to get by and see another day. Most of those people had nothing to begin with, and now they are in the negative. EVERYONE needs to help these countries.

While I'm not going to disagree that the US should do more for the homeless, elderly and children, it should not mean not helping those in extreme desperate need elsewhere. 350 million is nothing. We should be giving 350 billion.

If you want to change US domestic or foreign policy, vote for the other team next time.
