Mine expires this month. I've been trying to request a virtual and atm renewal since Dec18th with no luck. I finally resorted to emailing a guy at the top of the food chain. Problem is he is on vacation until Jan18th but he has passed my details onto someone who is supposed to be helping. No word, however, from my helper yet. Long and the short of it, cs support sucks balls, and you basically have to beg and plead for a renewal -- why, I have no idea.

EP has deducted the $5 fee for the virtual card this month, it was renewed automatically. And the atm card is due in march, I hope they handle it like the virtual card and renew it automatically.

They have? Great! I'm going to check my account in a minute. I guess I keep thinking of it as a normal visa which involves an actual physical renewal. Maybe this is why I keep getting the runaround, it seems like a low-priority to them. Thanks for the info anyway and, yes, lets hope the atm card renews just as easy.

I found this tread posted some times ago. Have a look at the comment of Rand from epoch/ep.

I agree..

I like the idea of the service , but what is the point in having customer service if they cant do ANYTHING..

Like i really cant see any reason why such a simple request isn't handled EASILY, ( " Hi this is joe smith and my epassporte card is about to expire ", " Hi joe smith that wont be a problem at all , let me just add a request card for you , Ok its done your card will arrive within the week. Is there anything else i can help you with " )

I found this in my ep email box:

more functionality. Coming soon you will be able get your ePassporte balance and to

I've lost mine a couple of weeks ago, so they're sending me one already

SmokeyTheBear 01-11-2005 12:54 PM

I could be wrong but i highly doubt the hard card renews automatically , as it has a PRINTED date written on it.

Ok, I believe they will send out the new one and deduct the $35 from the account. If a credit card expires, that's the normal way.

wdsguy 01-11-2005 12:57 PM

anyone from epassporte?

I'm hoping someone from ep sees this thread. As SmokeyTheBear mentioned, this is such a seemingly easy task, renewing one's account. You'd think anyway. I've withdrawn all but a few hundred from mine just in case, by some ungodly fuckup, I lose it.

This was the reply I got from them a few days ago....

-------------
In regards to your inquiry, your account will automatically
renew at the end of this month. Please continue to use the
card you have.

Hello,

This is how ePassporte renewals work.

Provided you have money in your account to cover the annual fee, we will deduct the annual fee for your virtual card 15-30 days before it expires. Your existing Virtual Visa will remain active until the date it is due to expire. On the date it is due to expire (which is always the last day of the month in which the card expires) the card will automatically renew and your expiration will move up 2 years. Your card number will be the same, but your CVV2 will change. We will e-mail your new CVV2 number to you when the card renews.

For those of you who have Electron cards, we will also deduct the Electron card's annual fee 15-30 days prior to its expiration. We will then print a new Electron card and mail it to you. Once you receive your new Electron card, you will need to log into ePassporte and authenticate that you received it. Your old Electron card will continue to work until it is set to expire. Once it expires, the new card will immediately become active. However, if you have not logged in to ePassporte to authenticate that you received the new card, the new card will be blocked until you do so.

If you do not have enough money in your ePassporte account to cover the annual fee, the annual fee and renewal will take place the next time you add money to your ePassporte account.

Of course, your ePassporte User ID and Password will remain the same.

I hope this answers your questions.

Jeff, thanks to clarify this.

Thanks Jeff.. This thread made me take notice that mine is expiring next month as well. Nice to know it will be taken care of easily.

Ok now im more confused than ever ??

You charge the annual fee 15 days before it expires then you send out the card ???

So when would a person expect the "physical" card to arrive ?? A week before the old one expires ? 2 weeks before ? a normal visa arrives 3 weeks before the old one expires..

It seems your staff has not been trained properly as they are telling people that electron card renews automaticlly ? see email above. + phone

So basically to boil it all down, does the user have to do anything to get his new card or just wait for it to be sent and follow instructions in the letter ?

If the cvv2 number changes , do i need to inform every company i have rebilled items for the new cvv2 number ?

Like lets say i have domains on auto-renew , will they go thru fine with the old cvv2 # or will my domains be lost because the charge wont go thru ?

You do not have to do anything renew your card(s) except 1) make sure the balance in your account covers the annual fee(s), and 2) if you have an Electron card, authenticate that you have received the new Electron card. Everything else happens automatically.

A merchant is not permitted to store CVV2 numbers, and therfore should not be using the CVV2 number when processing rebills.

However, merchants can store expiration dates use them when they process rebills. Obviously, your expiration date will change when your account renews.

The smartest thing to do is to contact you domain registration service (or whoever else is processing recurring transactions on your account) and ask them what they would like you to do to be sure that your billing is not interrupted.

(BTW, the change in CVV2 number is actually a Visa-wide policy. Any time your expiration date changes on a Visa card, your CVV2 number will also change.)
