It's pretty fucking crazy how small that computer is, I mean just look at that fucking box. I'm tempted to go to an Apple store as soon as they're in stock and pick one up just because it's so small.

Jobs introduces Mac mini. New member of Mac family including a slot-load Combo optical drive, FireWire, ethernet, USB 2.o, both DVI/VGA output. It plays DVDs, burn CDs, and is very quiet and tiny. Its height is half the size of an iPod mini. Jobs calls it "BYODKM" -- Bring Your Own Display, Keyboard, Mouse. Will come in two models: 1.25GHz 256MB/40GB for $499. A second model with a 1.4GHz, more memory and larger hard drive will sell for $599. Mac mini will ship on January 22. Ships in a box smaller than the regular iPod box.

The $499 model has these specs

1.25GHz 256MB/40GB, Firewire, VGA/DVI, DVD/CD-RW, USB 2, Firewire and Ethernet of course. There's a $599 model also with a 1.4 GHz and 512mb 60gb I believe.

Yeah it's taken them a good 5 or 6 years now that Jobs is back but they're really making some big big moves now. And he's about to intro a cheaper iPod too. And with the iTunes cell phones coming out who knows!

I wonder if it has bluetooth, it would be sweet if you could have a wireless keyboard and mouse with no extra hardware needed.

This is live info from the Keynot speec that's still going on right this minute. Apple will update their site and stores with all the new info in probably the next 20 to 30 minutes and then it will have an official page on their site.

As far as Bluetooth you only need the little $40 USB module and then you've got it.

Hmmm you can configre it with internal Bluetooth at the Apple store and it's got a 32mb ATI Radeon 9200, modem and it comes with iLife 05!

Yeah they're site is pretty slow loading right now and it's a G4, I bet people buy the shit out of it and the new cheaper iPods though!

You can buy a Hyundai with better equipment than a BMW for a much cheaper price, but I'd still pay more for the lower equipped BMW.

Yeah I think it's going to sell huge, I bet it's the biggest sell personal computer of 2005 by far. You can also grab the little DVI to Composite and S-Video adapter for just $19 and use it as a media center. It has iLife 05 which has the new iPhoto that now handles mpegs too.

We already have those mini pcs called shuttle boxes, mac is a little slow.

Its ok but too bad its a mac number one and that you can get PCs thats small and even smaller with same/similar specs. Its nothing special just the first smaller mac made.

I'd say the imac pretty much counts as a "smaller mac". This is the first cheap mac made.

Look at the prices of shuttle boxes they are very close to this new mac.

Yeah the sad part is macs could be priced equally to a PC but apple overprices everything they sell.

You're forgetting one thing: macs are better. Plain and simple. They just work. Even if they're overpriced, it's still worth it.

hmmm if you buy a complete shuttle box their cheapest model is $599 without firewire, extra software, a modem and they give you an S3 video card :1orglaugh and no combo drive just a plain cd drive and no dvi for $100 more what a deal!

like i said show me a cheaper or equally priced box of this size that has everything this one has at the same price that you don't have to build yourself.

oh yeah the shuttle box is twice the size of this one too
