What is up with Google?
I have submitted some sites to google using the free trial of Web Position Gold and after at least 6 weeks now, it still hasnt been submitted.....
The only way i can find it is if i type the url either in the Address Toolbar on the browser OR typing in the whole url on Google... and even then, my site description doesnt show. Does anyone know if this is usual? Anyone know how long it takes to get submitted? Any help, would be much appreciated.... i know this isnt really entirely 'Adult related' but its bothering me quite a bit so i just had to ask. Cheers, JonnyBoy |
I had the same problem with my first vanilla site. It was the result of several things. First my PR was 0 so Google didn't really care. Second, while they examined my site they hadn't crawled it. That happened almost 6 months later. Third, I wasn't on DMOZ. That changes everything. Fourth, I had few links in from reasonable sites and none going out. Linking can help a lot if it's not over done. Once I had all those details sorted out, and it did take time and experimenting, I got a description etc.

Also, my page was not optimized at the start. I was getting a lot of PSA on my site as Google couldn't figure out what it was about.

Google sucks. Google completely ignored my robot meta tags and crawled my entire site past my warning/entrance page. I was pissed so I told them to stop crawling my entire site. Thus, they have yanked my site submission completely. Guess that's what I get for complaining. Be lucky that they even attempt to help you.

:321GFY Yup... I know... |
its best not to submit your site to google, and just let it pick it up by itself. just place a link on a site to that new url and when google visits the site your new one should be picked up.

It's sometimes not so easy as to just get an inbound link to your home page. If you have a medium or large site, Google has to be able to easily find them all.
Obviously, a site map linked from your home page is a start. The layout of your navigation (if any) is also important - putting internal links lower on the page (that is, in the code - not necessarily on screen) will make it less likely Google will index them. At least initially, get some links to important pages on your home page and don't bury them in 20 nested tables. Oh yeah, very important: Get inbound links from sites/pages that are frequently crawled by Google. |
I would hand submit to google.com/addurl.hrml
