PersianKitty: Littermaid Question
I found a great deal on the LM500. Should I get one? I've done a lot of researching on the Littermaid and some folks say the smaller (LM500) is better because the motor for both small and big are the same.
Hope to hear from you :) |
I'm not PersianKitty but I have 7 cats and had one last winter so my kitties wouldn't have to go outside in the snow. It probably would have worked great for one or 2 cats but it wasn't ideal for all of mine lol They filled up the containers too fast :Oh crap

with 7 cats you probally needed a dump truck not a littermaid! :)
|
I had one but didn't care for it. I use this litter Tidy Cats Crystals and I love it. The crystals locks in odor so it doesn't smell.
:2 cents: |
i'm starting to lean towards getting me some of those sifting litter boxes. i have one roll-over box and i love it but it's in the back of the house and is reserved for my queen kitty.
i love the idea of the automatic box but i look at the pic and i think, my cats are gonna shit all over that thing, probably everywhere except inside. thanks for all the help guys :) |
Well the horrible thing about a lot of those automatic litter boxes is that when they get to the end of the sifting process, a lot of the time they FLING THE SHIT ACROSS THE ROOM!
We returned ours, and a friend of mine ran into a funny article once about how it flings shit, so I know I'm not the only one. |

yep. sifting boxes it is. i'll save my money for the day when AWSOME-O can be programmed to do the task. |
Shit flinging? I haven't had that happen. I'm on my second littermaid. I bought the larger one the second time, but I'm not sure why anymore. :)
We clean it 2x a week and other than that we have no problems with it. On Wednesdays we just clean the bin and scrape the bottom of the pan to get off anything stuck there. On the weekends we do a big clean of it, including taking off the rake and cleaning it in warm soapy water. If you don't keep it clean, it gets all gummed up and causes it to jam. We didn't have any problems with our first one, just got dropped in water and shorted out the motor. Now I'm more careful when I'm cleaning it. :) |
