Just got my Microsoft Biometric security device

Just got the Microsoft Fingerprint Reader and it really rocks. Instead of entering a password when logging into XP, you just put your finger on the glass and it instantly logs you in. Awesome! :)

Here's the link. Got it for $29.99 after rebate from CompUSA. Yes, it fills in every login and password by simply putting your finger on the glass. Pretty damn amazing.

Sounds way cool. Does it work with Mozilla?

I wonder how long it will be before the scammers start capturing fingerprint keys. :helpme

The Fingerprint Reader should not be used for protecting sensitive data such as financial information or for accessing corporate networks. We continue to recommend that you use a strong password for these types of activities.

It only uses IE. That's the shitty thing, I've been using Firefox a lot lately because IE has been crashing on me left and right. The reason they say this thing shouldn't be used for securing financial info isn't because of the risk of someone stealing your fingerprint, it's the risk of someone stealing the password that's stored locally after it associates your fingerprint with it.

Here's a pic.

the company that makes it for them has some sofwtare bugs... sometimes it loses all your passwords, make sure you have them written down somewhere

r3ap3r 01-09-2005 11:00 PM

That device is pretty cool but I'll stick to entering my passwords manually.
