How do you go about producing an invention?
 

I always have ideas, but never know how to begin with my "idea" for real world products. Any ideas?

I wonder if the invention corporation who have commercials on tv are scams?

I don't think they're scammers per se, but they will probably abuse the shit out of your invention for their own good. Hire a patent lawyer with whom you should consult what options you have.

Every time my dad calls me with an idea he had for yet another product I tell him to go check Home Depot and see if it's already there. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

it's a product, not a service.

There are various companies that act as "patent banks" (can't think of the names right now..). As soon as you patent it, you either sell or lease it to them, and they in turn go after companies who could use it to expand their product line. You get paid royalties or whatever the arrangement is. You can also do the hunting yourself, but the important thing is to first file for a patent if your lawyer says it really doesn't exist yet.
