thats one the questions i was gonna ask my accountant actually (but havent done yet)..good question.

What are "taxes"?

I do with my toy business, but we are power sellers on there and do about 700 auctions a month. We didn't until '02, but got reemed by the IRS. If you aren't selling a whole lot I wouldn't worry about it.

if you're making big money you better, a few have been busted and they like to make examples out of people, you can always write off everything you own though

You should pay taxes on the profit you make. Just like any other business. Profit/Loss.

Well, I'm planning on doing a LOT with my rock business.........sucks, never got into taxes before. just got a tax ID also...whats the best way to keep track of the taxes, keep receipts of everything, and invoices etc.?

All depends on how much money you are making. I would pay it though no matter how much, better be safe than sorry.

Your best bet is to hire a certified accountant.

ya grab an accountant. I do quarterly estimated tax returns. CPA is your best bet, seems your clueless to taxes, so I urge you to contact a CPA

I don't sell too much so i pay to keep things on the up and up I believe in being honest in business...

If you make more than $400 in slef-employed imcone per year you are supposed to report it to the IRS. Just remember if you don't the IRS does have the ability to check your bank statments and if you sold $1000's of merchandise the IRS will find out. Ask yourself, are you a legit business person or a flim flam guy? If you're legit, act like it.
