NBC Sued By Viewer That Puked Watching Fear Factor

Bout time someone went after this idiotic show. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

NBC SUED BY FEAR FACTOR VIEWER

CLEVELAND - A viewer is suing NBC for $2.5 million, contending that he threw up because of a "Fear Factor" episode in which contestants ate rats mixed in a blender.

Austin Aitken told The Associated Press he watches "Fear Factor" often and had no problem with past installments where the reality show's participants ate worms and insects in pursuit of a $50,000 prize ? but eating rats went "too far."

"It's barbaric, some of the things they ask these individuals to do," Aitken said Thursday.

Aitken's handwritten lawsuit contends the rat-eating made his blood pressure rise, resulting in being dizzy and lightheaded ? and vomiting. Because he was disoriented he ran into a doorway, "causing suffering, injury and great pain."

Asked why he didn't shut off his television before the rat-eating segment, Aitken said he couldn't do it quick enough.

NBC responded with a brief statement: "We believe that the claim is completely without merit."

Aitken, a 49-year-old part-time paralegal, said he wants to send a message to NBC and other networks with the lawsuit. He said he isn't concerned with winning a cash judgment in court.

"I just put any figure. You really think I expect to get $2.5 million?" he said.

It amazes me to see what people would do for money. Fear Factor is an awesome show.

Manowar 01-07-2005 10:34 AM

such a sue friendly nation. people need to toughen up.

galleryseek 01-07-2005 10:35 AM

fucking absurd. if you're watching a show like fear factor in the first place, be prepared to see some gross shit.

they really need to make a law for people like this. those who wish to sue on an ignorant base, are subject to public beatings by way of council majority vote.

Ya, sounds like he wants censorship. I would respect him more if he was just trying to make a quick buck.

pornguy 01-07-2005 10:49 AM

No it is about the money. Because he knows that there is a chance that he can get a jury of women that are easy to make sick to their stomach, and they will award that and more.

VeriSexy 01-07-2005 10:51 AM

abadfish 01-07-2005 10:59 AM

Not about the money...hahahahahahah... He knows 2.5mil isn't a whole lot to NBC but it is to him, thats why he chose that amount. I don't want to see people eat rats either... thats why I don't watch fear factor!

jacked 01-07-2005 11:05 AM

what a cocksucker guess the FCC is gonna step in... there goes fear factor....

The Sultan Of Smut 01-07-2005 11:05 AM

So, the during the whole leadup to the drinking of the rats, and including (I'm assuming) a commercial break right before the big event, this asshole deciceded to keep his fat ass in the chair and then allegedly pukes. Oh ya and walks into a door causing injury. HA HA WTF!!! I think the two fat chicks that sued McDonald's had a better chance and they even lost.

Strife 01-07-2005 11:15 AM

Sueing over stupid things like this is the American way :thumbsup

liquidmoe 01-07-2005 11:54 AM

If its not about the money, and its not about censorship, because he has to understand that for some people even the actions that didnt cause him to throw up would be considered too far by some, then what exactly is this lawsuit for/or about? :error

I think they already do... this is just another idiot who doesn't know how to change channel... I seriously hope FCC won't even bother responding to that. You don't like it? Don't watch it!

If I were living in a developing nation and got a glimpse of that show, I would have a very grim view of any nation which finds that entertaining (while the majority of the world population is struggling to survive).

And if that nation sets foot on my soil to try and 'civilize' my people by bringing their 'culture' I would resist it with all my might.

My comment is not about expectation of being cared for by those who have means.

Anyone can do whatever they choose with their resources (be generous or live in a gated society).

My point is that there are enough blatent examples (like this show, highest illiteracy, record obesity and illness) that 'western living' is not necessarily acceptable by all (even many westerners) and certainly it is reasonable to understand why some nations would fight with their lives to resist the onslaught of this style of life (and what it seems to bring).

Back on point, does the show have a disclaimer warning that there are potentially puke-worthy moments ahead for some?

If so, then they can show what they want and the viewer can choose whether they want to risk upchucking supper.

I fully support 'objective disclosure' of what the show has so everyone can make their own 'subject choices'. Beyond that, they can produce whatever they want.

I usually masturbate to that show...especially when some hot chick as to eat something disgusting (I've seen some of the dicks that porn chicks have to suck and they are far more nasty than a blender full of rats)

and, yes, I find the show highly entertaining...and sometimes arousing...

CybermedAndy 01-07-2005 04:50 PM

Weak minded losers. Besides that, to sue a company because you THREW UP?!!!! Give me a fucking break!!
