Actually i would worry more about it if i was a software producer.

A fair amount of porn though.. but trust me when i tell you that the demographic group that buys porn is not the same group that will download morpheus.

we could use it to market our stuff,i'm just on it to do a folder with some promotion-stuff,keyword-rich picnames, maybe some small movies..
and they end up to download some crap from me,include my url on the pics(big...really big)

soooo...whats next?
they store the keyword.jpg's,and the morpheus-searchengine will find it,and other users pull MY pics out of the others folder.

and so on,and so on,and so on.

it's like a snowball-scheme,your stuff get spreaded everywhere.
(include your big url;-)

there are already 100s of sites doing the same.

but i also read that morpheus has a BIG problem with childporn! I read that 1000s of those ill fuckers use morpheus to share their pics and movies which they canīt control anymore since they call their crap britneyblahblah..

Ok here's my limited review of Morpheus...

I punched in a search "latin porn" -- I was able to download several full size movies anywhere from 4megs to 100+megs... only very few of these movies had ads or URL's...

It seems I downloaded the same movies several times (different keywords) just different sizes, compression, duration, etc. -- that was annoying (ie: good for us ;) The downloads were pretty fast -- you just click "find more servers" and the shit hauls ass...

I think the lack of a preview is what kills this "service" -- but the descriptions can be useful and I didn't find too many bogus files. I think this is because the crappy content doesn't spread as fast because it is not shared between everyone... The most popular files seem to get shared the most and come up higher in the search results...? I think I'd prefer using Morpheus over surfing websites if I was looking for free movies just because the movies are longer. Also the fact that you can just type in keywords makes this program way better than any movie website -- free or pay.

I guess if you are in the content biz you could always release your content on there free with your ads... and get traffic... on the flipside though I don't think your content will be spread through the Morpheus system unless it is *good* content... In other words don't bother trying to share anything too short, over edited, or with too much advertising -- or there will be no "snowball" effect.

Morpheus does have plenty of annoying ads -- and popups -- I don't see how they can claim that it is decentralized. Somebody is banking on this. 23 million downloads! Shit!

I hear some talk about this program, http://www.kazaa.com/ -- it seems that Morpheus is using the technology of KaZaA -- so maybe KaZaA is even better than Morpheus -- I have not tried KaZaA yet...

the average surfer barely knows how to handle his browser, forget about downloading, understanding and install/use new apps.
The freeloaders and kids without credit cards can move to morpheus, and you will burn less bandwidth.
So see morpheus/gnutella/p2p can be a good thing actually http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/biggrin.gif

There's always been competition to web-based porn--newsgroups, email porn, etc

So don't sweat the P2P.

Kazaa, Morpheus and Grokster all use the same licensed technology and are already in the process of being sued. I suspect it wont be long before they go the Napster way.

Morpheus kicks ass - blows away the Napster model. The fact that it connects to multiple users, each providing a portion of the file simultaneously (I've seen up to 8 at a time) to max your download capacity is far better than Napster's format.

True, there is no formal preview, but for .asf, .wmv and most mpegs you can preview what you're downloading. i.e. if you're downloading a 20meg movie, at around 1 meg downloaded you can use it's internal viewer (basically Windows Media Player) to watch what you've got. Might only give you 20 seconds of a 10 minute movie, but enough to know what's coming.

Advanced users who are interested in movies rather than pics are gone from the paysite market as far as I'm concerned. Too much variety, for free, for paysites to compete.

Last weekend I got bored, did a search for 'Clerks', and downloaded the 320meg AVI in 40 minutes. Ethics asides, Morpheus is gonna be tough to beat for a chunk of the market.

Limewire works good as well. Connects to the same network I believe

I use morpheus to get a shit load of free music - hell I am paying 25 cents per meg on downloads - last month my bill for DSL was $2000 so my b/f banned me from using net radio - so I NEED morpheus to get any decent music!!!!

Lime wires based on the Gnutella file-sharing protocol, not the same as this
