did you work at your house or office?

i just bought a new office where i live

i plan to increase the productivity of my business that way

have you made this change? was it good?

i would like to know with people that had the exactly same experience

i have been working at home for the last 5 years

mardigras 01-06-2005 11:37 PM

No need for a separate building (at least now:)
Plenty room in my "home office".

Alvaro 01-06-2005 11:37 PM

oops.. title error

"do you work..."

sorry the typo/error

I currently work out of my home. For a few years, we rented a pretty nice office space, but we found that it was unnecessary and that we are more productive at home.

wedouglas 01-06-2005 11:41 PM

i work in the dark vile abyss that is my bedroom

Jace 01-06-2005 11:41 PM

i work from my couch...occasionally i get up and go to my desk for something

but my couch is usually where I am at

Dildozer 01-06-2005 11:44 PM

I rent an office near my school, this way when i'm out of the house i'm all biz, helps as my employees still go to school and don't have cars, we schedule work with school time.
80% of the work they do is at the office.

For me it's about 40% as I work a bit more when i'm home

wedouglas 01-06-2005 11:48 PM

i find that productivity and efficiency depend only on your behavioral patterns and work ethic. if your work ethic is there then you can work in the shittiest cheapest hole in the wallyou can find and accomplish just as much as you would at an office. however, mine isnt quite there with studying so i prefer the library....

hmm is academics and school talk allowed on this board?

no school though, people that work for me either are already graduated and/or dont study anymore

naitirps 01-06-2005 11:49 PM

It's especially useful when mid-terms and finals start arriving, the employees are also busy as hell, so everyone takes time off til after the exams, no hassle of mixing work and school when it gets too hot.

The office is also practical when it comes to doing team assignements as well, as most good internet spots at schools are taken all the time

I almost never go to the office. I haven't been there since early December actually. I get more work done from home most of the times, but I do plan on getting back to the office routine soon.

ocho-ocho 01-06-2005 11:57 PM

No interns, only 2 temp employees for now, but they're in the process of being trained so they know how to create their own projects and I don't always have to tell them what to do. I want them to then get people under them to take on bigger projects. They get an hourly wage plus a participation in the business' income.

Just affiliate marketing, mostly SEO but we're looking at other stuff as well, there's so much money to be made out there

Yes. But even if I didn't, it's still a good idea sometimes to work from an office.. especially if your gf/wife makes you her errands bitch "just because you're home all day". :1orglaugh :1orglaugh When you work from home you need LOTS of self-discipline :)

MandyBlake 01-07-2005 09:13 AM

we had been working in the home for about 4 years. we recently (about 2 months ago) got an office and bought a new home. so now we commute everyday. we had heard that having an office and separating would make us more productive. i must say that it has. i don't have too much experience at it yet, but so far its working out great.

Fucksakes 01-07-2005 09:16 AM

at home, but now with a gf i think an office would help alot

XxXotic 01-07-2005 09:16 AM

Clarion 01-07-2005 11:12 AM

I can't stand my home office. I'm so much more productive in my office 5 minutes away, because I want to finish my work, go home, watch the lakers and kobe miss a dunk, with no pressure.

I'm a really work-oriented person currently so it has just turned out that way.
It took some getting used to (having work that "present" most of the time) but it's all good now.
Wouldn't move it out to an office until there's a need for a hiring a couple of part-timers.

I also don't have a marriage to "nurture" so I'm free from naggings, pressure and threats like
"Stop working so much or I'll divorce!! " :thumbsup

I'm free, with all my efforts & time, to reach the primary goals I've set.. and
to deal with other parts of life a bit later.

I'm determined, I plan & execute.. and my choices are the right ones for me.. :Graucho

Babagirls 01-07-2005 03:40 PM

at home, baby! :winkwink: :thumbsup
