Best 4+ megapixel compact digital?

I want to buy a 4-5 megapixel compact digital camera.

My primary concerns are compact design, quality images and good ergonomics.
A large, bright LCD and manual controls would also be a plus.

Ideally, I'd like to buy at a competative price.

Any suggestions?

Are you talking about the Sony Cybershot DSC W1:

If so, that's probably top of my list at the moment.
But I am keen to explore other options.

Sony P73 or P93 probably.

I got the Sony P150, 7.1 megapixels and not too expensive, around 430 euro here.

No specific budget. I like getting value for money. But I'll pay
whatever is necessary to get a decent camera.

Pros: Image stabilization most aggressive of it's type. 12X zoom. 4X digital zoom. Flash shoe. Color rendition. Great for nature shooters or sports photos. Very fast
Cons: None

only around $350-400... just got it myself

Oh yeah, I second that, this camera is AWESOME !! I've had it for 3 months now and I absolutely love it.

Here's a review on it, it'll tell you EVERYTHING you'd want to know about this camera before buying it - http://www.digitalcamerainfo.com/con...era-Review.htm

Also, if you notice on the right side, there's a "Digital Camera Ratings" section, that's where they rank all of the digital cameras and it's ranked number 5 out of ALL the digital cameras out there, only getting beat by the digital SLR and SLR shaped cameras, so I guess it's the best compact you can get :) You can also use that site to check out other models, it's a super site that hits up every aspect of each camera, not just a couple of points.

canon s60 or s70 perhaps?

adultpixel 01-06-2005 10:47 AM

a nikon coolpix is always a good choice too.

I think the Sony Cybershot DSC W1 is still top of my list.

Anyone got a better option not already mentioned?
