Sure beats my hundred bucks :thumbsup

who 01-05-2005 04:21 AM

Although at least I donated anonymously... I wasn't looking for any fucking kudos.

Living For Today 01-05-2005 04:24 AM

Seems the whole world is really realising how bad this disaster really is and is being incredibly generous. From fundraising efforts around Australia so far, over $100 Million has been collected and that is set to skyrocket with the massive cricket match and other charity events occuring in the coming weeks.

nofx 01-05-2005 04:25 AM

it's funny to see a bunch of people to start donating large amounts of money for "relief" but its only really to get their name in the press.

human nature I guess

I'm sure that's not why he did it. :winkwink: An anonymous donation of 10 million dollars would be hard to keep under wraps.

hornycash 01-05-2005 04:25 AM

it's good to see poeple with a shitload of money donating like that!
he earns more than 300 million euros per year.

You gotta be kidding me. Do you honestly think he donated that money to get his name in the press?

he's a good german boy, a family guy

Well, the whole thing is getting ridiculous. I'm in Australia at the moment, and it really seems to me as though Australia is competing with places like the U.K. to see who can donate more money. All I see on the news is 'Australia is in the top ten countries for donations' and blah blah...

I know people are helping out... but fucking media.... they trivialize everything.

Plus, did anyone see the exclamation mark they put on the news? they kept writing it: "Tsunami!" which seems to be very fuckin crass imho...

nofx 01-05-2005 04:31 AM

how come they dont do it all the time?

only when a tsunami strikes and kills a bunch of people.

only in popular crisis. we have homeless people, 3rd world countries in which people are starving to death, etc.

Undoubtedly he donated to help out - but he's still showing off.

He could have bought a whole newspaper for that kind of money, and his name is allready in the press daily

That's what the media does. Anyway, if putting things into a competitive nature increases the help that can be given I don't see a problem at all.

Because if we don't help immediately, a lot of the survivors are going to die from disease within a month mate.

You have the exact details of Michael Schumacer's financial history? Do you have any real idea of what he does with his money? I'm sure he wouldnt donate on such a large scale on other occasions but I have absolutely no doubt a lot of his income would go to charities. Dont put others down because you arent in such a situation to help out as much.

I was generalizing for the sake of the GFY community, not informing anyone of anything :thumbsup

Maybe it annoys the generous americans among you that your fellow countrymen are so stingy. That seems to be the case at the moment.

Why do some people who make anonymous donations later mention the fact that they made anonymous donations? It's especially amusing when they point out they weren't looking for any kudos. I think if a famous person donates a large amount of money, it should be made public and get coverage. It might inspire other folks in a similar financial position to do the same. And who really gives a fuck what their motive is?

Awesome gesture on his part. Is it so hard to believe that he's genuinely been touched by this tragedy? He has nothing to gain by making the donation. He gets his name in the paper if he farts in public for christ's sake.

Corleone 01-05-2005 09:27 AM

he lost his bodyguard in thailand I heard...
the bodyguard and his family died there ......

xclusive 01-05-2005 09:56 AM

I really hope a majority of the money goes to the victims in the past this is not usually the case

By the same means Bill Gates should donate 1 billion dollars. That should be spare change for him. Consider that at first Bush donated 35 mil., and it's not even his money.

idiot. like he needs attention

DarkJedi 01-05-2005 10:05 AM

Atleast 50% of the donated money will be stolen by corrupt government officials.

Manowar 01-05-2005 10:26 AM
