how does everyone feel about flying?
during the month of november, i had planned to be in the beautiful country of argentina. that was, of course, before september 11th.
i have never been afraid of flying as i have done it since i was about 3 months old, but now, i am fear stricken. seriously. its an overseas flight, so there should be air marshals on board, but that does not calm my worries. i dont want to feel this way, for i still want to go and see my family. i guess i am just curious as to how all of you feel about this in light of past tragedies. thanks http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/smile.gif |
Flying kicks ass.

fly to argentina? |
Well, I don't know about Argentina... but I'd fly to Maui tomorrow if I had the tickets. http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/wink.gif

I think flying today would be safer then ever. It's whats gonna happen on the ground that i'm worried about...

when I dream of flying it seems pretty cool.
Sometimes, I don't even have to flap my arms. Would this be considered floating instead of flying? kinda supermanish. http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/smile.gif |

I've flown within the states several times since the attacks, and there really is little to fear. Just like I'm sure you've heard, it's still safer than driving your car. Overseas is a little different, but probably more carefully watched and therefore less likely to be affected. Customs is more of a pain in the ass than regular security. I wouldn't worry. I would go into it with more confidence than you ever have. http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/smile.gif |
Well, look at it this way. Even on September 11th, there were, I believe, about 14,000 domestic commercial passenger flight scheduled, and of those only 4 planes went down. Even if that happened every day I'd probably still feel the odds were a WHOLE lot better than driving to Argentina.

Caroline, Ill fly anywhere with ya.
Leave the Lab rat at home, and Ill have ya back by next week! |
this is a quote i saw in Time Magazine last week that struck me as pretty well said.
"It's a sorry man, that would sit still during a hijacking now." |
Yeah, lightswitch, that's kind of the feeling on the plane as well. You're kind of setting there thinking, "We're all in this together." Everybody is more aware, and more ready to take action than ever. |
