How can I check a DNS server entry from Linux?

How can I check a DNS server from Linux?

I want to check that I have a correct entry in a DNS server before I change the registry settings to it? Its currently hosted somewhere else.

Can I do this with dig? If so anyone know the syntax?

Thanks

That should work, or you can just

nslookup www.yourdomain.com NSSERVER (127.0.0.1)
