WHAT ELSE CAN YOU DO TO SPEED UP A COMPUTER.....(DEFRAG, TEMPS, CACHE, etc.....

My laptop is dragging ass. I ran all of the spyware/anti-virus etc....defraged, delete the temp internet files, history, and slapped it around a few times but it still crawls. It's a AMD64/512/ATI9600, etc...it does have a lot of programs, adobe photoshops/premieres/pinnacles...is there anything else simple I can do to get it back up to speed or am I screwed :(

input appreciated-

Great advice right there

run evidence eliminator. seriously, it cleans out so much junk.

Also, have you ran regclean? might be a lot of old shit loading from your registry that's hogging up the system.

I did those two things the other night and it set back the clock (metaphorically speaking) by a few months speed wise. The system is a bit fresher.

doubtful you will have to defrag, or if defrag would do much good (assuming you run xp). to me, it either sounds like spyware, malware or a virus. to me, there is something that is definately hogging system resources... just use ctrl+alt+del and check the running processes that looks like something (besides explorer.exe) that is hogging up oogles of memory and resources :2 cents:

goodluck!

I would use Lavasoft Adaware.
Its free, and you can download it from www.download.com
It gets rid of all the trash you have on your PC.
