FTC to Examine 'Free Trial' Offers
(Reuters) - The Federal Trade Commission is investigating telemarketers who talk customers into accepting ''free trial'' offers for services and merchandise that, in reality, come at a cost, the Washington Post reported on Wednesday. There's only a handful of programs using free trials anyways... the adult industry quickly learned to deal with freeloadres by offering those $2.95 memberships. It might end up costing customers more than that of course http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/wink.gif but at least it was never free.
(I remember those companies giving away 3 day trials for $2.95 but in the fine print asking to cancel within 48 hours, so many people cancelled on the 3rd day, but got rebilled anyway...)
