The rooms do suck dogs balls.

I thought the hotel must be 20 years old by the decor.

The carpet is just plain nasty - tiles falling off in the bathroom - bed as hard as nails.

Totally shithouse IMHO

oh well - good job i wont be in the room much :thumbsup

Atleast you can afford to stay at these "nasty" hotel.

Hope you all enjoy your stays and make good contacts.

It's done on purpose, they don't want you to stay in your rooms :2 cents:

they want you to lose your house down at the KENO room

Guess we are lucky...

not a single problem in our room. I like the hotel a lot more than the venetian. Rooms might be a little smaller, but the bathroom (at least the one in this room) is awesome, bed is good too, and most importantly, its _WAY_ cleaner than the venetian is.

Also like the casino floor a lot better.

The rooms in "The Hotel", the new building they stuck onto the side of Mandalay, are quite nice. I assume you're talking about Mandalay proper.

I don't think any strip hotels would intentionally make their rooms unappealing now, but perhaps in the past, when they last decorated Mandalay's rooms, that was one of their goals. Vegas marketing strategies shift rather substantially even in ten years time...in the 90s it was all about family-friendly themed hotels, now they're removing many themes and bringing back sin, promoting clubs and higher-end restaurants. In the 80s, I think there was more of an effort to keep people from wasting time in their rooms when they should be gambling.

I've got to back him on this one. I'm really disappointed. The carpets are filthy, things don't work, no remotes for the T.V.s.... The list goes on and on.

It must have been a good New Year's Eve in Vegas.
