Seeing titties is all good and drinking but their always has to be hard acts trying to impress girls. I don't need to travel to another state to stand in riots just to see some tits and have some drinks but thats just me.

I like going for New Years eve, halloween or St. Patty's day the only thing I do during Mardi Gras is go to the parades. I don't go near the French Quarter

Watching that too. NOPD need to be taught some basic citizen etiquette. They really waste no time bouncing and slamming people around.

Agreed....hugs, hand holding, group singing, and encouraging words would be a much better way to deal with thousands of rowdy drunks.

I seen that epidoise of cops last night. They were arresting people for small things, simply touching someone down there is Battery!! thgats crazy

don't be mad the most fun thing to do in your country is goat-tipping. The TV show "Cops" isn't indicitive of what happens at mardi gras, just as with any LARGE party situation people are going to be arrested, doesn't mean everyone there is ready to fight. Should I assume everyone where you live fucks goats and stands in a breadline for food? no

I enjoy the daytime flashing much better at mardi gras. Less crowded and more light. Much easier to get good shots and the human sardene factor is not so bad.

I remember one time I was so packed in my feet were not even touching the ground! and at 6' 230 lbs!

It was at night right under GGW's balcony with SnoopDog. They had chicks totally naked out on the balcony instead of just flashing. Foot traffic came to a stop. The cops shut them down within minutes. Got it all on tape though! :upsidedow

Gotta agree with the people that have been there - been every year for some time now - and its not at all what they show on the Cops show - thats very unusual - most of the cops have more restraint than I could ever have - Ive seen beer bottles tossed at the cops and they just stand there taking it

And there is nothing like getting invited into a party of 100 sorority girls from LSU with all you can drink and smoke and lay for days at a time - so dont knock it till ya try it

You have to realize that what you saw on TV during that hour gave a distorted view of the event. First off, if you had been there the entire time COPS was filming chances are you would have never seen any of the incidents from the show. The city really does have massive crowd control down to a science and they have enough people on the streets to get the job done. Another thing, the "tough guy" cops they end up with on the show are not representative of what you are likely to encounter on the street. Like any force you've got a few tough guys, a few assholes, but most are friendly and helpful. Most are not standing there showing off for the COPS camera ready to pounce on and take down a flasher.

Bourbon Street is a long street FULL of bars, so yes there is going to be the occasional misconduct. In my entire lifetime of carnival I have only witnessed a handful of what would qualify as true fights and the cops had it broken up within seconds after the first punches flew.

Flashing for beads is almost completely contained around a number of motels and bars with balconies. There are large stretches of Bourbon Street where you are not going to see it.

It all depends on how exciting you want it to be. If you like madness, get in the middle of the crowd in the street at the busiest area. If you like a little breathing room, go to areas away from the bead activity. Personally I like getting a spot on the balcony of one of my favorite clubs and watching others bounce around the crowds below. Advantage of that is easy access to a restroom. There are no "public" toilets on Borbon Street and pissing in the corner somewhere will get you taken down way faster than flashing any body part.:upsidedow

What I'd really like to do is go to Rio for Carnival.

KRL, they are the lowest paid cops in the country and in a situation like that you dont play games. You can loose control of the croud way to fast. If poeple see them throw a few offenders around, then they them selves are less likely to break a law or get involved.

i went last year and stayed with the dreamgirls crew - by far one of the best times ever - I got punched by some big guy and we caught it on camera! Even with that, it was still a GREAT time.

If you've never been, you should go. You do get your drunken idiots, but for the most part everyone is there to just have a good time.
