Paypal!!

anyone receive that fake paypal message saying that your account has had unusual activity and then has a link to a website asking for account information? I bet there are hundreds of people falling for it and getting ripped off! It really looks legit to the average surfer.

HammerTime33 12-31-2004 03:35 PM

Its been around for awhile now, anyone that has :2 cents: would know it was a scam, but unfortunatly most people have a bit less than :2 cents:

Screaming 12-31-2004 03:48 PM

i get those for my ebay account, hate those things

pornguy 12-31-2004 03:54 PM

I get Paypal emails all the time, plus Suntrust, CitiBank and Bank of America. I just delete them. If my bank has something to tell me, they have my phone number and my home address.

thats what I think too.
I got one from my bank a week ago saying I had like $4827 (some off number like that anyways) in unclaimed something or another and they just needed to confirm things like my creditcard number, and banking info.
I jsut laughed, but knew that someone was going to fall for it, kinda sad.

Babagirls 12-31-2004 05:06 PM

yea, i get those emails all the time, be careful.

MBS Auto 12-31-2004 05:07 PM

That spam has been going around for a while

Ecksent 12-31-2004 05:19 PM

I got one from Bank of Omaha the other day. Too bad I live in Canda. Freakin' morons! Then I'd thought I'd be nice and e-mail Bank of Omaha and let them know. Just to get in touch with these people, you have to send them you telephone number and they will call you within 24 hours. What a joke!!!

jabula 12-31-2004 05:23 PM

There are numerous scammers for this activity where they ask you for your SS# PIN # ... yeah. I've actually called Citi Bank & they said "delete it" we know.

Sounds like the one that PayPal employee perpetrated a couple years back. Amazing that people still fall for that crap.

Hot Visions 12-31-2004 05:40 PM

yea, i never had a company ask me for account info over email.... they usually know that shit.

Anyone see "catch me if you can"? That was a cool FRAUD movie.. :thumbsup

Rob 12-31-2004 06:28 PM

I gave them my username, password, and bank account info. I checked it earlier and they had deposited $1000. Damn hackers!
