I think the bigger problems is the sheer number of different tribes vying for control in the area. Each group has their own ways of interpreting the quran that is weaved in their traditions and supported by tribal leaders.

Hence, each group thinks their version of islam is the correct one and should be followed by all, which will never happen. Just like the liberals and conservatives will never see eye to eye.

Those two things are nothing alike....

There is a serious disconnect between the people and these talking-head pontificators who try to speak for everyone and back up their bullshit with the barrel of the gun pointed at the people's heads.
