WTF 120000 dead and fucking CNN are talking for 10 mins on some model who's INJURED

by the tsunami.. makes no sense to me

freeadultcontent 12-30-2004 07:09 PM

no offense but it has been non stop tsunami news since it hit. I am pretty sure we all know about it by now, and there will still be plenty of coverage to come. I really do not need to hear or see a constant death toll ticker.

BTW yes I already sent in a donation.

still, who gives a fuck about some model who WAS INJURED by the tsunami? at least move on to other news, but this just makes no sense.. and the way that stupid CourtTV anchor that replaces Larry King tonight is acting as if she's so devastated hearing about the model's MINOR injuries. WTF

A tragic death has to be ironic.

There was nothing ironic about this.

That has nothing to do with the quote.

Oh she was injured by it?

Well by next week we will be hearing about the scams regarding it. I have for the most part turned off the news, except for local weather.

emthree 12-30-2004 07:16 PM

It's a ratings thing, plus they have footage of her on calm waters ... so they will milk it.

That has nothing to do with anything.

It wasnt tragic at all.

It would of been tragic if they were one week away from implementing a tsunami warning system.

Some predictions have it reaching as high as 400,000 in Indonesia alone. Many areas haven't even been accessed yet.

well you know how these things work, someone;s story gets no attention, but a random model or actor gets injured and its all over the news..

Same with those italian footballers, they got away though so the media only just "mentioned" it :)

Dude, I have no clue what you're talking about.

The original post in this thread is by azguy ranting about how they're giving coverage to a model injured by the the tsunami instead of covering the more important issues in hand.

To help explain this, I quote words from Stalin as they're very pertinent to azguy's rant.

Alexander D Great 12-30-2004 07:27 PM

shit man... thats crazy... 400,000 in one country alone... thats a real tragedy.....

You're mixing the words tragic and ironic.

I agree... CNN covers what they want, here in the US we do not have an idea of what is going on out there in the world... they keep us as contained as possible :(

:( but I forgot about the 30K killed last year in earth quake until this one. Maybe focusing on a known name will get people to donate. It seems really bad over there.

Who knows :)

r3ap3r 12-30-2004 07:40 PM

Everyone affected by these tragic events need our compassion.

Ever hear of the internet?

Short band radio.

Only person who can contain you is YOU.

It was either that, or they put up a huge ticker counting the deaths.

Its been too long now about the deaths. Now they talk about survivors

It will probably go even higher. Alot of "missing" people are starting to be called "dead".

azguy:

Sensitivity is not CNN's strongest point...

After showing some bodies being dumped in mass graves.... on comes some crap commercials for viagra - a totally unreal scenario.

Suppose they can't resist earning a dollar, no matter the background. Tho, it's well-known advertisers don't benefit from images of war or distress in ad placements like that.

mardigras 12-30-2004 08:45 PM

She was the 2003 Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover model seriously injured and her boyfriend was killed... a bit more newsworthy than "some injured model" (not that any death from this disaster is any less tragic).
