click the "thread tools" drop down menu second to right at the top of the thread.

then click subscribe :thumbsup

No I don't think an alert is sent either & you are automatically subscriber of your own thread.

Correct, you're also automatically subscribed to threads which you've replied to.

If you're looking for email alerts when a thread gets a post you can try http://www.***************.com .

I didn't know you could subscribe to them before... I keep a folder in my bookmarks for them.
