Expected to pass 100K from the initial events. That number could double in a few weeks when disease starts to claim lives. Horrible situation.

Dirty F 12-30-2004 03:11 AM

Yup, i watch the news, first 15 mins coverage about 100k people expected dead, then i have hear about another 30 dead in Iraq, then another 50 in Saudi Arabia, then 5 people in Holland because of some fire, then the weather and then i wish i didnt watch it.

matty 12-30-2004 03:29 AM

i dont mean to be morbid or disrespectful, but imagine how many bodies are going to wash up on shore in inanimate locations?

Theo 12-30-2004 03:41 AM

shit :/

you can never know what will be your last moment in this life.

nofx 12-30-2004 03:43 AM

kakdila 12-30-2004 03:47 AM

The worst is that more of the death could be avoid with a good warning system like in Japan for example

My heart can't handle it anymore. All the images with tiny kids looking for their parents, men looking for their wifes, bodies all over, ect.

I actually found myself watching Oprah today because CNN and the national stations kept showing those terrible clips and mixed in new and even worse clips.

Pornrex 12-30-2004 03:57 AM

Wow...

Some responses are in real poor taste. I can't help but wonder how people in your respect lives, not to mention complete strangers, would react if some terrible tragedy had happened to ANY of you. Some of you should be ashamed of yourselves. What has happened affects us all.

If the countries and communities of the world do not contain this situation and send relief and aid ASAP, I fear a pandemic is imminent.

CNN mentioned that the island of sumatra shift from its global position by almost 2 meters further south. That is huge! Some scientists have stated that the earth itself had "shrunk" and that the axis was affected while causing the rotation of the earth to increase in speed, thereby reducing the time in one day.

Where ever you live, put pressure on your government to help these unfortunate souls. Countries like the US, Australia and Canada have offered substantial monetary and medicinal aid. Others need to pitch in as well. By far the MOST disappointing of all communities has to be the EC. What a fucking joke! By comparison, Australia is sending 10 times the aid of what the EC has committed.

The situation is chaotic. The medical aid that has reached the areas so far is minimal. I can tell you in Athens the C-130 with 25 doctors and equipment was ready to leave a day after the catastrophe and till this moment Thailand hasn't given the green light for the flight to take place.
